One of the most beautiful melodies I ever heard from that master called Mike Mainieri. Thanks for sharing.

So many kickin’ tunes when it comes to Steps, but if I had to choose one, this song would be it. Any version, the live ones on KZbin, Mike Manieri’s Wanderlust, Montreux Live, Smokin’ In The Pit. Also in my memory, hearing this live at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, same group except with a new piano player at the time, Elaine Elias.

Nice group. Best period of Steps. I really miss Mike Brecker.

"Smokin' In The Pit" marks the best period of Steps, later Steps Ahead in my ears.

Top Shelf !! The composition, mood, and attention these cats give this song evokes so many of the things I loved about music from this period. Great post and one for the vault. Thanks mobius-2

Ciao
