This is the second and final part of the audio mono or radio repair series. We will further diagnose the machine and will repair it according to such diagnostic. One thing you can do is set your meter to read current and place it across the on/off switch. for small radios it will be around 12ma.

Hi. Nice video...! I have a AV receiver with FM tuner. It will work only in mono mode. it want change to the Stereo mode even it has good FM signal reception. as I bought it secondhand would u suggest me a solution.

Make sure you are supplying or feeding FM signal to your tuner. Then if still problem is there, it could be a bad system IC.

Loverly job, well done jahan :-D :-D. There must have been quite a large pulse of current to burn out the tracks, im really supprised there was no damage to the radio circuits, hard to know if it was the wrong power selector setting or the man applying power to the battery connections, we will never know. One thing i would have done before connecting power to the radio is check for a short circuit on the radio power pins, some capacitors in the circuit can go short. . Tantalum capacitor types just love to go short circuit ha ha :-D, and if the power is not limited they go up like a firework, Ka booom lol :-D. Makes you jump, i have lol :-D.

+zx8401ztv Thanks dear sir for liking video and work. This video actually I uploaded for newbies in the field of troubleshooting and repair. I didn't take care of the short using an ohm meter before attempting power because when I applied limited power from cell phone charger, it exhibit no voltage drop; means no short. I encountered to a shorted equipment many times and by voltage testing I understood the situation. You made a great point to give to the new comers in the field! I would try to cover it in some next video. This audio was very feasible to repair because its components especially the power and pre-amp ICs were in working state. The power amp IC was a bit expensive online and was not available locally due to worst electronic spares market here. So if it was the case with defective IC, I thing would be no change of its repair or this video! Hope these two videos will be valuable to the learners in the field of troubleshooting and repair. +LearningZone Please know that I wasnt picking fault with your repair :-( The possibility of a short circuit (possible cause of the blown tracks), is a basic part of a sucessfull repair. Whats blown.?.... What did it?.. :-) I will shut up, i dont want to upset you as your a nice man :-)

There is no way to do it using a multimeter. You can do it by connecting a speaker to different size amplifiers and see the response.
