@@876r876rf If this video gets enough views I would.. it will take some time though, so by then I'm sure you'll be done. It's not very difficult.. probably hardest part is getting the power wire from the battery to the back, and you can see my Compustar Alarm video for getting a wire from the engine side to inside the car. After that the wire can run on the driver side all the way to the back, just have to pull the trim at the bottom (next to the fuel door/trunk release).. along with the RCA outs and front speaker wires from the head unit. You can use new speaker wire and wire up the back speakers directly from the amp, and the front can hook into existing wiring from stereo... you'll need a color diagram for the factory stereo wiring to find the front speaker wires, probably available from the12volt.com . I also have a video for taking off the rear seats, you may have to do that, not sure. One thing I'm really not sure is where to get a good ground in the trunk... and I'm guessing you're installing in the trunk?? Cause some people put it under the driver's seat.. and in that case, there should be easily found ground points in the dash, and I show one in the Compustar Install Video.

@@876r876rf Here's my Compustar Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYOQnpewjNOil6s that shows routing a wire from under hood to inside, and ground point. Once you get the amp powered, it just needs the RCA outs from the stereo plugged into it, and the the speaker outs have to be connected to the speakers instead of the outs from the stereo.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I'm just confused how I'm going to get wires from the amp all the way back to the front speakers. I have an idea of what to do in general but there are some clear gaps in info so i cant really move forward. I have a 2014 corolla, and i noticed on the drivers side north west of the gas pedal is an ovular cut by toyota in the insulation and you can just pull it right out. I believe that's where it's going to go through.@@CleverFix

Going to try this out, thanks for providing a clear and concise video on how to do this (provides a lot of confidence in my ability to do this at home). do you want to update your pioneer stereo amazon link? Would love to buy using your affiliate link to support your channel, but the current link is broken. Thx!
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 4 ай бұрын
I'm glad it was helpful, and I updated the link, thanks for letting me know, it's really appreciated! Just so you know how the links work, I think many people don't: Once the link is clicked, it lasts 24 hours, and if the user makes a purchase within that time, the affiliate earns a commission. The user doesn’t have to order the exact item they clicked. As long as they make any purchase within 24 hours of clicking the affiliate link. My stereo is still working great.. There's only one "bug" it has, if the volume button on the steering wheel is pressed up/down while it's booting in the first 3 seconds, it sometimes causes it to freeze and reboot. It's something to do with the CRUX sending the signal before it's ready to process it. Other than that, never froze or had any issues so far.

Awesome tutorial as usual Clever. Been thinking of upgrading for a long time. I have installed a 5 channel amp in my 2015 and the stock headunit is not great. Sound quality is key for me. Was thinking of doing this radio over the chinese big screen ones. Do you lose steering wheel controls to change the music?
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 5 ай бұрын
Thanks! The Steering Wheel controls will continue working with the CRUX SWRTY adapter, however, Pioneer hasn't mapped them very well when listening to radio. All I can do is change volume, and tune to pre-set radio stations. I can't Seek to a new station. The mode button changes from Radio to Bluetooth, USB.. but can't change between AM/FM from the steering wheel. Answering and hanging up calls also works. I bought this one because I know Pioneer lasts a long time, and I'm not sure about the cheap aftermarkets. I never had a good experience with cheap car audio components. The sound quality is definitely improved with the Pioneer, and I really like being able to tune the sound with the equalizer. Thanks for watching!

Hey. In your opinion, is this a "more necessary"/higher priority upgrade than adding an amp for new speakers?
@CleverFix
@CleverFix Жыл бұрын
Amps usually take a Line In, which means an unamplified sound source. The stock stereo doesn't have Line Out,.. so adding an amp doesn't really work. Some amps can work off of already amplified output but they won't have good quality and the quality of the stock stereo is not so great, so even if you manage to put in amp, it will be amplifying a low quality sound source. The stereo upgrade is quite costly, but it would be the first thing to do after upgrading the speakers, if better quality is needed, line outs, and of course the mobile connectivity upgrade.

Sorry I didn't get the time. It's super simple though, the A-pillar video is pretty much all that's needed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHXdlGqZpbOMbas I double side taped it on the windshield at the top.. Make sure to glue it somewhere where it doesn't obstruct your view if you're picky.. I don't like seeing the black blob in the way t all... It can be placed in such a way that it's not visible at all. The dash side cover just pops off and the wire goes through easily, then I used some zip ties.

Does the back-up camera show on the new unit you've put in? I'm looking to replace mine since Toyota is quoting me $3000+ for a brand new radio unit or if I have it exchange it is going to cost me $1000+!

yes, the SWRTY adapter includes backup camera input, so the RCA connector from the car plugs into the SWRTY and it actually has a much better picture than the OEM head unit at night. I have a A-Pillar Trim video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaOTloajabWcfJo I routed the mic under the dash, then through the pillar, and I taped it to the existing wire bundle in the pillar. This way it doesn't interfere with the airbag. Then I put it under the roof liner, and double-side taped it to the windshield close to the rear view mirror (making sure it's not obstructing the view for driving).

One thing to note about the top of the windshield, is that it has those "dots" to reduce light, but they might block signals for GPS.. I'm not 100% sure though, it depends on the type of windshield. Common locations for a GPS antenna are on the dashboard, on the rear tray at the back. Here's a location for my alarm antenna, I would try the dash on that side, since it's receiving from the sky, it should have a good view there: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYOQnpewjNOil6ssi=YMUV4cJ64DOpCdZG&t=520

@@emacrz2561Yes, unfortunately only the OEM head unit can interface with the vehicle to change settings. For certain things, like Door lock settings, some Corollas are programmable through a specific sequence of presses of buttons on the door itself .. but for headlight settings and other things, only the head unit can do it. I also believe the dealer can change any settings, without the head unit installed, but they'd charge for it. The only thing I really miss is the fuel efficiency graph.. I can live with the same door/headlight settings.

The USB is working perfectly on mine still, so I think it's a rare thing, but yes I've seen some reviews about that. The sound is WAY better.. More rich and more frequencies. It makes driving more fun for sure. I played around with the equalizer for a while until I got it to the perfect settings for my ears, and I've had it there since. It took a few days of getting adjusted to it.. I was so used to the more "muted" stock stereo.. a lot more highs from this unit. The stock "high" "bass" and "treble" settings are a joke. It was definitely worth the money. I just checked and there's a "used acceptable" and "used - very good" right now on the Amazon link in the description, that are a fairly good price. I've had pretty good luck on the warehouse deals.

Can you ask the manufacturer if their harness provides power on the antenna amp pin? If it doesn't hopefully they can advise you on how to do that. I am not familiar with that stereo sorry. I am familiar with the sound without the amp working though, because I initially did not connect it. It was fading in/out even on the best stations while driving, and the weaker stations were not picking up at all. Once I got the amp powered, everything became as good as with the stock radio.

I reached out and am underwhelmed with Dasaita's support they are very slow to respond and the responses are general and vague. Their wiring harness does not provide power to the antenna amp pin from what I gather from the responses I got. There is power on the other connector, which also has an antenna connection on it but I think it was for a motorized antenna not a signal amplifier and I have not been able to get any advise from them on correcting this issue. @@JasonWatkins-p8d At 4:32 in the video, I show the antenna connector that came with the CRUX SWRTY-61N. It has two wires. One is for the signal, and one is for the booster. So the Dasaita must have a similar connector to that at 4:32, but does it have one wire, or two? If it's only one wire, then the booster wire and pin are missing. A car audio shop should be able to sell and install that connector for you on the Dasaita, it should be a common part.
@JasonWatkins-p8d

@@CleverFix There is actually 2 wires. I chatted with someone from Cruchfield and got some further insight on diagnosis. When I checked the antenna connector the large metal single pin spun around and the wires inside the plug seemed loose so the problem may be the connector itself. I uninstalled the the new unit and reinstalled the factory unit and everything worked as it should. I ordered a new connector and will try replacing the connector and see if it fixes it. I did a factory reset of the new unit disabled external amps in the menu and it seemed to make it slightly better but the reception signal still seams weak.
