To me, I have a hard time choosing between the Luxman and the Yamaha. I did back and forth, and still not sure. I'll likely choose the Yamaha with it's ability to draw me into the music. Whereas the Luxman just kind of nonchalantly slaps the music more forwardly into my earholes. But both are superb. Reminds me of amp comparison I heard decades ago between the Krell Class-A amp and the Mark Levinson Class-A amps. Some folks around me chose the Krell. I was among those who preferred the M-L. Krell -> forward and dynamic. M-L -> more laid back and just simply drew me in. To repeat, my choices were Yamaha, then Luxman very closely, then the Schiit, and finally the Akitika. And yes, I also heard the slight treble graininess (edginess) on the Schiit and Akitika amps. Very interesting demo, enough to do so "in the flesh" with the Yamaha and Luxman with a few recordings. Thank you, sir! 🙂👍🍺🍺

Hi, I’m trying to choose an Amplifier that would be affordable and give me high end sound would AKITiKA which would be the most affordable for me provide a sound detailed and high end enough to use in a reference system

You and I sure have the same taste in equipment. I’m building the ACA minmax atm and I built the Akitika GT-108 also. In my GT-108 build I used dueland caps at the input and some AudioNotes in the output cap position…..does it make a difference? Well, I sleep better knowing mines just a little bit more….keep up the great videos!

Ok, I could absolutely live with the Yamaha with zero complaints, no need for anything else, but that'll never happen - HA! So glad to finally hear it with your Klipschhorns, thank you and cheers!

Listening to the entire video with q set of quality headphones I felt the Yamaha sounded the best. (I returned a few integrated amos but when I tried a Yamaha, I kept it.) Just something about the Yamaha sound that my ears love. Cool video

I kind of agree!!!

Luxman hands down in this demonstration. Its all about getting the frequency responce right for your ears in the room your in, given the track you are listening to. After 50 years of this I garanty you most good amps can sound right if there frequency output matches where the recording engineres messed up. You have it right when you hear all instraments and vocalests that were present when recorded. Hence SOUND STAGE/FIELD.

Anyone out there have any info on Yamaha AS-1100 vs. AS-1200. Im wondering if the 1200 would be a worthwhile upgrade.
@joehalo2 ай бұрын
1200 is actually a slight downgrade if you look at measurements.

That Yamaha is something special.

Yeah, I'm back and forth ... but ... Yama now, two days later, may be my fav. It's strange. That Yama is voodoo.

Buy any Yamaha from the current models or something recent and you won’t be disappointed.

Schiit and yamaha were not level matched. Couldn’t really tell with level not matched but the yam had clearer highs

Streaming from Spotify, lost me there, I stream from Tidal and the improvement with a modest turntable is substantial. The Phono section in the Luxman is incredible, you have to spend at least a $1,000 or more to better it, I know because that’s my amplifier. 🤓

Yeah I think the luxman had the whole package didn't think much of the Yamaha though. I think the schiit could be spectacular with some tweaks. Try and get yourself a Wharfdale Pro CPD 1600 I've got two run them as monoblocks. spectacular ab amplification 1600 Watts bridged £300 each got a deal and gotten for 230£ each new. be curious if it blows the luxmann out of the water I would say yes. Would work great with those speakers.

Agree! The Yamaha is a great amp! I own an A-S1100 too, and it sounds better over time.

Yes, I have one ass well.Took a very long time to break in and keeps getting better.

I find neutral and 'colder' amps to be bad matches with Klipsch speakers. (Maybe horn speakers in general?) Klipsch and tubes go together like peanut butter and jelly.

dynamics + guitar + brass orchestra break Yamaha and Akitika are the best. I like more Yamaha with dynamics + guitar + brass but Akitika with orchestra break. The choice will depend on the speakers. Luxman, nothing special. Schiit is the worst. Yamaha, Akitika - 100 points Luxman - 60 points Schiit - 40 points - Greetings from Tarragona (Spain/EU) -

I can't disagree. BTW, we are comparing all good amps. So, it's challenging.

How much is the Lab 12 Philips Multibit dac being sold in the US?

Love it; about $3,300 US. However, find a good dealer, you might get a discount.

Schit was forwardsh and very present, Yamaha a bit more open sounding. Akitika up next!

I heard a lot the same as you did. I would love to hear the Lux and Yamaha back to back in my space. One day I should get them and do my own a/b at home. The two american amps were a bit more up front. The two Japanese amps were more reserved in presentation comparatively. All great options. Thanks for sharing!

@@thetakeout When I hear upfront ...be it speakers or amplifiers.........I run as fast as I can...................upfront is not the same as presence......upfront is a fault but liked by some audiophiles thinking it is a quality .
@frankgeeraerts62435 ай бұрын
Interesting ! Akitita ....that's a NO NO to my ears ....maybe for some audiophiles ? Shiit ..........Some good points but overal not coherent and distortion is frequency dependant.......so no shit for me....... Yamaha ...........this may be an amplifier to consider listening with a decent source without the usual but accepted digital disease of most digital sources . Luxman ........as ever pleasant to listen to ......nice balance between relaxing music? PERFORMANCE and good musical TONAL balance. LUX or YAM.......Witch one ?..... The one that gets the better illusion of creation of the presence ( physical ) of the instruments , free instruments and voices from one another and let them float separated in space and dept ......the one that keeps you to listen and forget the amplifier even if you would want to analyze the sound ......... The Yam has a very nice pricetag.........now it's replaced by the A-S1200.......... the Lux has a pricetag out of budget for many people ...who would like to have them.... Kind regards
