I'm exactly the same regarding the drinking water, what we do is take a water filter jug with us and fill that directly from the drinking water tap. Have never used the caravan taps for drinking. Did a drain down in October but will now have to do the sterilising thing again for a quick trip this weekend, the jobs just never end.

Hi Ashley, thanks for watching. A lot of people seem to do the same. To be honest, we don’t even drink the tap water at home, it tastes like a swimming pool 😂😂 but when we we’re in Derbyshire & Scotland the tap water was lovely and that’s when we did the same as you. ATB, Dave & Helen 👍

We have always used bottle water, but still clean the pipes out. One thing we always forget, is the blue hose mainly because its a pain lol. Great video, thanks for sharing 👍

Just a tip. We use the dishwasher tablets in the cassette case when in use - does a fab job and dissolves solids.

Great video Dave. Dishwasher tablets and draining into the waste master are great ideas. I normally do the same but let it drain out on the drive! Never crossed my mind to add to the wastemaster for cleaning. Like you we are bottled water fans for drinking. Keep up the good work👍

Yeah we never drink from the tap in the caravan and only drink tap water when we’ve been to Scotland or Derbyshire, never at home, tastes too much of chlorine. ATB, Dave & Helen 👍

Cheers Dave, that’s a job I will have to crack on with probably in mid march , Great tip with the dish washer tablets, I am I right in thinking I can just use the leisure battery to pull the water through the system, because our caravan is in a storage yard, and there is no 230volt power, thanks again for your helpful video 👍👍

Thanks for watching Buster Boy. No you don’t need 240v for your water pump, so it’s a job you can do down the yard. Worth checking the condition of your battery if it’s been in storage for a while (not sure if you have solar) I used to hook up to the car and top the battery up if it was stored for long periods. Good informative video Dave 👍. Did ours a couple of weeks ago ahead of the new touring season after a three month break. We use our tap water to wash fruit and veg, brush our teeth and fill the kettle and we’re still here to tell the tale 🤣. Al the best Rob & Gail

Hi Rob & Gail, I reckon the tap water is fine for all that and I know it won't kill you but honestly when we are in Derbyshire or Scotland it's great but make a cup of tea with Anglia Water and it's not the best, so we use bottle water. We don't drink water from the taps but make tea and coffee with it (after boiling it in the kettle). I've never cleaned the pipes, actually, I'm not sure we've had a caravan long enough. This one is different, though, so I'll give it a go at some point. Good idea with the shout out, I think caravan channels should do that more often Congrats on 4k subs.

Newbie question - when you clean your toilet cassette where do you empty the contents? Thank you.

Hi there Helen, thanks for your question. Well we would have emptied and rinsed well (and we also disinfect) the cassette at the Elsan point on the site we are leaving but when cleaning the cassette at home as in this video, we tend to empty the cassette once cleaned down our toilet or main drain. Yes if you have a water filter it’s best to remove it first. Steriliser can break down the membrane on filters 👍

Hi Greg, yes I have used puri clean also (it may even be same company) but puri sol is in liquid form and no tablets to dissolve. I am sure they both do a good job. 👍

Hi newbie question. When you say pull it through 3-4 times. Is that 3-4 times with the purifying solution or 3-4 full clean aquarolls? Thanks

Hi Ryan, thanks for watching and a great qualifying question, I should have been clearer. You just need to use one aqua roll with purifyer in but you had might as well pull the whole roll through the system, with a little pause and then just pull the remainder through. Then I would flush a couple of aqua rolls of just fresh water through (once you have rinsed the aqua roll after the purify) make sure you just keep alternating between kitchen, toilet sink and shower so the whole system is clean. Personally we always use bottle water for drinking making hot drinks etc but we use the aqua roll water for bathing and cleaning teeth etc. hope that helps, Helen & Dave 👍
