Hey feral. The place looks great. Super fun. I've been to a few medieval festivals. We have them quite often here at Nottingham castle. Everyone goes dressed up and they basically build a medieval village around the castle. They have famous battle reenactments from those times. We have jousting and archery. And obviously robin hood is there lol. Nottingham has a designated robin hood. The sheriff makes an appearance. And yes, it's the actual sheriff of Nottingham lol. Although it's largely a ceremonial role these day's. Me and my wife had afternoon tea and cake with the sheriff about 7 year's ago. We got talking to the sheriff and her husband at a police award show where my misses was collecting an award for bravery. The sheriff invited us to the council house and we duly obliged. Nottingham is full of all the medieval stuff. We even have a medieval restaurant where you go dressed up and feast on the food that was eaten during the dark and middle ages. Although I haven't been to that in year's and year's. Must be 15 year's atleast. I keep meaning to do another video on Nottingham. I did two of the castle during the first Lockdown. I'll do the rest of the city next time. I might try and do it this next week or two.👍

@@TheRetroManRandySavage hey Savage! That's really awesome man!! I thought our festival went all out. Yours sounds like the closest thing to stepping through a time machine. Our Renaissance Festival used to have a weapons demonstration from a Master Archer. He apparently hasn't been there in years, which is unfortunate. It was always my favorite show at the fest.

@@FeralInferno we still have a really old law here in Nottingham that states every boy has to know how to use a bow and arrow lol. It's been in place for nearly a thousand year's. Although it's one of those laws that no one takes seriously anymore. It's not enforced or anything. I'll also film where king Charles ll raised the royal standard (flag) in 1642 to mark the beginning of the English civil war. It's actually about 4/5 minute walk from my house. Not much there except for a flag, but it's still pretty interesting. And the next time I visit my family I'll film the village where I grew up. Right across the road from my nana is a manor house that was built by William the conqueror in 1070 AD for his daughter and her husband William de warenne (a norman knight). King Edward lll son was born there and the black prince also lived there. His armour is still locked in a medieval wooden chest in the local church. And that manor house actually sits on the site that used to be a palace for the first Christian king of England, king Edwin of northumbria. A great battle there in 633 AD between Edwin and the pagan forces of mercia and gwynedd ended in defeat for Edwin and the kingdom of northumbria fell. It's very spooky in that village where I grew up. Very mystical. Me and my friends would go walking the ancient lanes and fields at night and it would scare the bejesus out of us.

@@TheRetroManRandySavage a law where you have to know how to defend yourself, not a bad idea. Though I am assuming it was probably more to have soldiers of war ready to go lol. Savage, do you know how to use a bow and arrow?

@@FeralInferno Without question it was the best family getaway we’ve experienced. 🎭 🍗 🐎 🤴 Gotta go with the Harmless Juggler, the jousting, and of course the insane drumsticks. We’ll definitely be back next summer 👍😁

@@patrickc3419 glad to hear you had a good time! And perfect weather for it! I'm looking forward to seeing what new acts they have next year. I am hoping they bring back the Master of Arms show next year. It's been a few years, but they used to have this medieval weapons demonstration with a master archer and a functioning catapult!!

Let's go!! Ha ha, oh they know how to market those ocarinas, don't they? Nice. Juggling skill-z, with a Z cause he's impressive! Great looking shields; we got our kiddo one years ago, they're fantastic keepsakes and display pieces (after some neighborhood battle damage of course). I think I may need a wooden Buster Sword. Love watching the blacksmiths at work. Do you have a preferred manner of drinking vessel? Wood? Horn? Steel? Great looking setup for the joust! This looks like a gorgeous faire! So glad you shared it!
@FeralInferno8 ай бұрын
The Harmless Danger Juggler is always a fun show! I may have to pickup a wooden sword this year, I have a large wooden walking staff I got there years ago but we shall see what strikes my fancy this year. I'm not much of a drinker but if I was, totally would ve a horn guy haha. I love their joust show but it is the same thing every year. I'm hoping they change up the act this year. Maybe FeralInferno will have to armor and saddle up this year...
@DoYouNerd8 ай бұрын
@@FeralInferno See, your response gives me all you need to do to shake up that joust show. You and the Harmless Danger Juggler are going to do the pub crawl, drinking from ALL variety of implementation to pick your favorite from true experience AND get nice and sauced. You'll get a wooden sword, he'll have his flaming pins, and you two will crash the joust mid-tourney!
