Nice rack! I'm still blown away by the great ideas coming from the humble 2x4 and great woodburning from your son too! Its great when your kids want to get involved, my 12 year old daughter loves to make her own little projects with me ( I'm a D.A.D.D. too!) great video Sterling.

Bravo my friend! This rack reminds me so much of my Dad! My Dad at some time in the past tried his hand at woodworking and used a lot of pine wood to do some projects. One of those projects was a gun cabinet and parts of your project just flat out remind of his cabinet. :) I think it turned out very nice! Nice seeing your son get in on the act too! You are right you could not buy a gun rack for $3!! I love how it came from one 2x4!! Regards! Chris

Excellent work, Sterling. Nice design too. You and all the other contestants are really going to make it difficult on the judges this year - not to mention all of us woodworkers. Seriously. If you were to take all of the contest entries from this year alone and put them all on one playlist, you'd easily have a year's worth of projects. This is just me talking here, but I'm seeing a few Christmas gift ideas, too.

Great looking piece of furniture! If you would put it in an antiques or furniture shop over here in Europe, people would wonder what it would be. It looks a very original piece, could be old, could be new, maybe it's to put up pizza slides, maybe for old wooden stirring spoons, people could go on guessing. We just leave the gun owning to the military and police with an exception for the hunting rifles, but they can only be stored in special cabinets. Sport shooters do leave there gun at the valve of a club.... when ever seeing someone with a rifle, you know there's something terribly wrong... Anyway, gun related items are rare over here. Nevertheless, You made a beautiful piece of classic furniture out of that 2x4!

Nice job! How would you make a "V block" for use with a bandsaw, when there is no table saw to angle-cut the wood?
@SterlingsWoodcrafts6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, and I am not sure what the question is, i do apologize for not understanding
@usernamemykel6 жыл бұрын
I want to be able to cut a 2"x2"x12", lengthwise, diagonally, to produce two 12" long triangularly shaped pieces of wood. I understand that one would need a "V block" as a sled to carry the stock towards my bandsaw blade, which would then saw the stock diagonally down the middle. All the "V blocks " that I've seen made on YT are made with a table saw, having the blade at an angle. So, what are my alternatives to the table saw? Thank you.

What size screws did you use to mount this gun rack? And how many did you use? My grandpa just made one for me and I love it, but it is very heavy, don’t want to take any chances on it falling.
@SterlingsWoodcrafts4 жыл бұрын
I made this for someone else and really not sure what size screws he used, i would assume 4 3 inch screws would work fine to hold the weight of the guns as long as you have them in the studs

Sterling Davis ok, thank you, i decided to go with 2 lag screws, and 2 2 inch screws to hold at the bottom, just because I put a 30/30, a 22 and a 20 gauge on it. It also has an ammo shelf, so that is quite a bit of extra weight.
