So quick and witty! It’s a shame more people don’t appreciate what a comedic genius and nice gentleman he was!

His wife said after his death that when he was in a car accident, when the other guy ran into him, Steve got out and said, “Some people will do anything to meet me.” She said that’s just the kind of guy he was. ❤ Injuries from that car accident ultimately killed him.

One of the funniest things Steve said was when the panel would get one free guess as to the occupation of the contestant. Dorothy said, "I think she raises dogs." Steve said, "I think she lowers them."

I can’t find the clip but Steve Allen was on the panel when some guy was a guest and manufactured some of kind kitchen cleaning product and either Arlene or Dorothy asked if the product was had a common, familiar household name brand and Steve Allen (being the king of quick quips) immediately asked if said product was called “Irving Boraxo”. I was born in ‘59 and grew up in the 60’s. Borax/Boraxo was king of detergents back then. Even safe for no wax floors!

Hal Block came on more as a comic relief for the show in the beginning, but he got way to personal with women. When Steve Allen appeared, Allen got more laughs than Block, which you can see Block's not happy face. Eventually, Block left and Allen got tons of laughs afterwards.
