Steve did not appear to be as desperate for romance from Laura when he was with Myra (and that was pretty much the only thing Myra was giving him Laura was not; in Steve's heart, he was still getting more from Laura than from Myra; Myra didn't even really have the friendship love for Steve like Laura had always had). Of course, the other way Myra brought Steve and Laura closer was showing Steve what it was like to be in Laura's shoes when he borderline stalked her and to a lesser extent the entire Winslow family. Steve permanently grew out of stalking Laura when he found his own stalker in Myra.

Laura finally revealed her true feelings to Steve despite some prior occasions where Laura if you include their senior prom, the auction, and when when Steve brought her home from the frat party* had already started giving him juicy kisses. Minus the one that Laura had given him when she was under the spell of that love potion that Steve had developed and accidentally spilled some of it on his shirt thanks to Eddie who had bumped into him as he held the flask containing it. *Even though she was drunk and pretended not to remember. Laura had always loved and cared about Steve her entire life as well as his. It was just mostly Low Key. She even welcomed most of his advances. Note that Laura never even had an issue with Steve always sitting up sitting up under her. And she actually felt more comfortable around him as opposed to every guy she’s dated combined. Including Steve’s clone/ alter ego Stefan.

Why did this scene finally win her over? Well, he's not an annoying child that's trying too hard, and Laura is not feeling smothered by the old Steve. They both grew, they both dated other people, and Steve just laid it out flat. "Just love me like i love you." And Laura fell for him because he was actually growing as a person. It wasn't about the squeaky voice or the clumsiness, but someone who always loved her and treasured her unconditionally, but now they both had the emotional maturity to deal with it.

Problem was that even though Myra loved Steve for himself, she was also overbearing, possessive, jealous, immature and a commitment control freak. She showed this the first time at the end of season 4's Buds 'n' Buns when she came to the wrong conclusion that Laura was her competition for his love. Despite her and Steve trying to convince Myra otherwise, her mind was made up. Her negative traits ended up putting him off her permanently. When Steve first became Stefan, Laura was originally smitten by him. However, when his arrogant and narcissistic traits in having a lack of concern for Carl's partner being shot, she learned a hard lesson in not falling in love with someone for their looks. Once he insulted Steve, Laura was so annoyed that she demanded he return as Urkel at once. She points out that unlike Stefan, he was always compassionate and caring towards others. Only then, he realized that he hurt Laura's feelings and ate a tablet(serving as an antidote) to go back as Steve. When she claims that she never wants to see his alter ego again, Urkel reassures her that Stefan's personality can be improved on. He spent some time trying to improve Stefan's personality and make him more compassionate. For a while, Laura forgot about him until Maxine asked for his return. By this time, Steve made the necessary improvements on Stefan by creating a Boss Sauce(maintaining suave personality, while retaining Steve's caring and compassionate traits) and a transformation chamber(to cut down on the itching to personal and sensitive parts of his body). A lot of people only credited Laura for Steve's change and criticized Myra for trying to pursue him. They often forget that had she not been introduced midway season 4 in A Thought in the Dark, he would've still pursued Laura relentlessly and invaded the Winslows's personal space in the later seasons. Myra also played an important role in Steve's maturity and growth. This is because her stalking him relentlessly and invading his personal space, he realized how annoying he was to the Winslows and everyone else in general. Steve learned a hard lesson in respecting people's personal space and accepted that he had a lot of growing up to do starting with working on his behavior. Only when he agreed to go steady with Myra in the end of season 6's Paradise Bluff, she calmed down considerably and started to mature as well. In turn, Steve was growing up into his own person and less attached to the Winslows because she kept him distracted from his own issues with his own family. With him and Myra dating, this allowed Laura to relax, mature and go on dates normally. When Steve learned of Myrtle's plans to get rid of Greta and win Eddie's love in season 7's Swine Lake, he had a Deja'Vu moment harkening back to season 5. He warned her several times to stay away from Eddie and find her own man. This is because Steve saw that Greta was a good girlfriend for him and there was no need for Myrtle to interfere with their relationship. By season 9, Steve and Laura realized they were in love with each other. There was no need for Stefan and Myra.

Neither one of them were good for him. Laura only started likeing him after he changed himself and stripped away parts of himself that made him special...so she never really appreciated him. The "love" Steve had for Laura was unhealthy...Why should he wait around for Laura to love him when there are plenty of people that would have loved him for who he was. Laura made fun of him every chance she got, she was mean to him and believe it or not, she was selfish. Myra loved him for who he was but she got possessive and crazy. Steve should have came to the conclusion that Laura was someone that wasn't going to be able to reciprocate the "love" he had for her, and Myra wasn't a good match because she would have been a controlling partner. Neither one of the girls were a good fit, so he should have moved on.

He was just attracted to her physically, and also dated her to avoid being alone, as there was a time when he thought that Laura’s feelings for him were never going to change. Still the writers handled Steve and Myra’s breakup poorly. They should have had them split more amicably, with them remaining friends, because we had already seen the good side of Myra, in spite of her flaws.

It wasn't think. Myra knew he was changing and didn't like the changes. This was why she pretended to break up with Urkel. Myra was hoping against hope that he would see the light by realizing that Laura wasn't worth it, relinquishes his love and stay with her. She surely underestimated Steve and his willingness to move on with his life. I didn't like how they turned her into a psycho. We saw a lot of Myra's maturity in seasons 6-8 and they should've handled the break up much better than this.

Yep, Laura just had to mature into her feelings. It's true we become more physically attracted to someone once we truly start to fall in love with them. And that's exactly what happened with her. Until the last season the only thing stopping her from seriously dating Steve was that she cared too much about appearances and what others would think... now she cares most about what's in her heart and what truly makes her happy. Steve calls Laura out on her bs (very important in a relationship!) and often brings out the best in her. Even when they were younger kids she was subconsciously attracted to Steve's kindness and generosity. People say Myra loved him the whole time no matter what, but her love was a suffocating, weird, possessive, toxic thing most of the time. Steve tried with Myra, but his heart belonged to Laura and it always did. They both have a longer history together and are way more compatible anyway, and nothing was going to stop this pairing from happening, it was meant to be :)

Nope. Myra played an important role in Steve's maturing aside Laura. People often forget that if she hadn't been introduced in season 4's A Thought in the Dark and shown her possessive traits at the end of Buds 'n' Buns, he would never learned his lesson, kept invading the Winslows' personal space and continued stalking Laura in season 5. It was Myra who brought a lot of changes to Steve by stalking him relentlessly and invading his personal space. However, she took it a step further by spying on him, drawing him naked in his room, forcibly had sex with him in his locker and demanding commitment from him. In turn, Steve realized how annoying he was to the Winslows and everyone else in general. He accepted he had a lot of growing up to do and matured.

Steve had to change himself multiple times into a cooler version of himself that Laura really wanted...that's not love. There comes a point in time when if the love is not being reciprocated, you have to move on and find someone that will love you for you. Myra loved Steve for who he was and he never had to change into a cooler version of himself for her to love him. The "love" Steve had for Laura was unhealthy. Do not chase what does not want to be caught.

Something that I did appreciate them doing was that Steve didn't change strictly for Laura's benefit. He decided to do it for himself and try different things. But in the end some things didn't change, like the foods he enjoys, his love of polka, and his propensity for creating wacky inventions. Steve will always be Steve no matter what clothes he wears or how some of his mannerisms adjust.

For whatever reason the writers needed Steve to be with Laura. I suspect it’s one of two reasons: 1. Myra couldn’t be payed to be regular cast member or 2. They were worried about colorism or something, so Laura had to be picked over Myra.
