In considering the story about the piper running afoul of a parish priest and providing Goodman with so many tunes, it is mind boggling how the music somehow survived and was eventually published. The first song was so moving and lovely and opens a view to the fabulous musical culture that was part of daily life prior to the famine.

Great insights by Steve, Odhrán and Iarla on the different aspects of the music of Canon Goodman. You guys always manage to come up with great interpretations of the pre famine tradition in Ireland. You bring new meaning to these beautiful old melodies airs and songs that were almost lost. Thanks to you guys (and to piper Mick O Brien and fiddler and director of the ITMA Liam O'Connor), Goodman's legacy is safe for the coming generations.
