I first saw this band in 2017 in Cheltenham at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and then again in 2018 at Ronnie Scott’s, with the same lineup both times but with Kevin Hays on Electric Piano instead of Larry Goldings, I also had the honour and privilege to meet and talk with Steve Gadd after the gig in Cheltenham,a true gentleman and an absolute musical legend,hero,and influence of mine😁👍

Those drums just sound incredible! I love how the snare is sensitive, and has a nice tight, concise sound but still breathes. The toms have a sweet attack, and gorgeous "swell" and resonance. I might want more articulation, personally only because I have coated Ambassadors on my drums currently, and they're too "pretty" for the music I'm doing with them. I may move to a C.S. Black Dot, Emperor, or PinStripe. Probably not the PinStripe though. They're more beefy than I want to go with my general purpose kit where I'm playing everything from jazz to metal. But the clarity of tone, and sensitivity may keep me with the Ambassadors. I found a set of Aquarian Classic Clear w/ Power Dots in my closet. I didn't even remember that I had them. I'm going to pull off the new Ambassadors I put on last week to get through those Aquarians. I spent the money, I'm going to use them!

So intersting... clearly classic american country western influences. Not a genre typical to getting mixed into the Jazz fusion. Talk about stacked lineup! Looks like Jimmy using those alembic basses like Stanley Clarke
@stretch546 жыл бұрын
All of Steve Gadd's bands have had some country or folk and soul influences back to the days of Cornell Dupree, Richard Tee and Eric Gale. His style is really suited to those styles.
