Reading the comments, I discovered some people consider this a country song, as in Country & Western. I can see that, although I never thought of it that way (despite the country setting of the original music video), just as I don't think of 1984 as a sci-fi novel. Some works go beyond the boundaries of the genre they might fit in. Also, I thought I heard some new lyrics here, but I was wrong. Perhaps I was just paying more attention, undistracted by the "movie." The lyrics are great, as are the music & delivery. The whole effect is celebratory & sad at the same time. You don't want to have to share that all-American boy with someone else! (In the original video you didn't even get to share.) Thanks, Steve. Still a powerful song!
