@@pablosimoes3146yeah it's so true it's too bad most of those friendships don't last... I had two crushes in my lifetime and both were my friends, one was my age and he invited myself and another friend to his house to play some games but after we graduated 8th grade we lost track of each other I wonder how he's doing now and second one was I met him at a laundry mat and I was playing arcade game machine and he wanted to challenge me but I warned him I was gud and sort of the champion 😂 he was cocky but was kinda endearing because he didn't come off as douchey, I humbled him quickly after 3 matches he was done and told me I was, awsum... He was like 3yrs younger than me and had a nice smile and warm beautiful light brown eyes which I tried not to stare, he was local and after a few months he invited me to his house and his sister had a crush on me but since she was 5yrs younger than me I couldn't see her like that plus that was my friend's sister and went against the bro code... We became gud friends and his family was so nice, his mom was beautiful since she had green eyes, met his grandma and was so sweet and made sure Everytime I came I ate something 😂😂 her cooking was top notch too... We also bonded in the fact we both grew up without a dad 😢which was kinda sad .... He never told me this but we was being bullied at school and I wish he would've told me cause I would've kicked their azzes but their mom got scared and so they moved away from the city and we talked here and there but eventually we grew apart since I didn't have a car to come see him, I heard he got married and had a kid which I'm happy for him ❤

I'm as straight guy who grew up country and western, had a lot of friends and some turned out to be gay. Something like this happened to me and honestly it didn't bother me a bit. I thought about it and took it as a complement. We are still friends and I have a lot of respect for my friend. Its not easy for country people to come out, its worse when they try and get treated like there is something wrong with them. Blessings to all and live / love who you like. I'm not even gay and this song got to me. The message was pretty powerful, especially the video. What I liked about the video was that even though his friend wasn't gay, he didn't hit him or ridicule him when he kissed him. He let him down easily without humiliating him. I'm glad people are starting to act that way.

I hope that you have found your "All-American boy/man" and truly happy and wish you nothing but continuous success. Yours truly from one who was too afraid to take the path that you have!

This song reminds me of my life growing up in near Knoxville Tenn. I was so deep in the closet back then (1998) and a huge Red-neck farm boy. I was in love with our schools QB and I was the RB and we were at a huge bon-fire for Home-coming party at my parents farm. Damn he was so beautiful we were so shit faced , he asked me to help him get some beer out of his truck which thrilled me. I loved his smile and dimples and his Joy dog food hat turned backwards we were standing and then Shania Twains song Your still the one come on . I went for it and kissed him and he kissed me back and then some. We dated secretly for my Junior and Senior year of high school. I was in love , he was bi and would not come out. I came out in College and have never looked back. It was heart breaking to leave him but I could not deal with having a beard(GF) so his Dad and brother would not kill him they were crazy. He did come out about 6 year ago finally I heard but you never get over your first love it still hurts to this day.

I have a straight friend who I've known all my life. He's 25. I'm 23. A long time ago he came over to my birthday party. I was turning 8 yrs old. (He was 10) He stayed the night and we ended up cuddling and then after that we ended up cuddling for a little while every time we hung out together. (for about a year or 2) Afterwards we stopped cause he told me he thought we were too old to do that lol. (I was a bit upset cuz i had a little crush on him lol) I came out to him when I was 19 and he was really supportive but never told him that I had a crush on him or that I had feelings for him at one point. I honestly did try to ask him if he remembered us cuddling but I didn't wanna freak him out since he's already supportive so I just let it go but now we work together and he has a 2 yr old. Were both single still best friends and that's ok ❤ I'll always care for him.

Steve Grand has the song, the voice , the good looks to have made it big on hetrosexually orientated main-stream: had he been prepared to conceal his sexuality. The fact that he chose not to do so, is a real tribute to his personal integrity and good sense. The fact that he felt he could in the country and society in which he lives; is a tribute to the campaigners for equal rights; his fellow citizens (well most of them), and actually the politicians (well, some of them!) I think both Steve, and those other inspirational voices such as Eli Lieb; are doing us all a great service in moving us all on culturally and emotionally. At last a knight in shining armour! And by St. George, his armour really does shine! My only complaint about this knight in shining armour is that he is a bit late turning up! I am 57 now. Where the dickens were you when I was your age? On well, another cosmic planning malfunction! Thank you Steve Grand, you are doing a Grand job! Yours respectfully, Nick in Cornwall, England. PS. Just off to Amazon to order your album.

I have to give you a great big KUDOS! By accepting Sargent White's invitation to the Marine Corps Ball in November 2015.You have restored my faith in the gay community by not only your music, your openness, but also the compassion and guts it took to accept this brave man's offer. I hope you guys have a great time! Thank you again for putting a smile on this pessimistic old man's face.

I just love this video Steve! If that's you jumping off the dock, what a nice bubble butt you have! I hope you are enjoying your World Tour!!! My spouse (Same Sex) passed away the 28th of July. Just 20 days after his diagnosis of small metastasized lung cancer. On top of that he had an inoperative brain tumor causing his brain to swell. It was his left lobe of the brain and within a week and a half, he was paralyzed on his right side. That's when everything went into a downward spiral. He suffered so!!! I'm so glad he went quickly. If you read this, thank you! Being single now, I can come to some of your events if they are local. Nothing to stop me now...

Thank you for writing this song, sharing it with the world, and making this video. As a former "All -American Boy," now an "All American Man," I want to commend you. How wonderful that young people can see this as normalized. When I was a kid I went thru this, but in such shame and confusion. A country boy, true and pure in heart and Soul...I need to know it is possible to be who I really am, not some in-genuine version, to either fit in with the "Gay Community," or mainstream society. Stay Golden Steve Grand.

I just stumbled over this song again and I only now realised that this is one of the songs that kind of helped me on my way of coming out. Thank you for that. I can also really relate on falling in love with a best friend who doesn't return your feelings, which I guess happens a lot to lgbt+ people. Thank you for making this beautiful and tragic song, it helps a lot to know you're not the only one.

Thank you so much! One of the nicest comments I ever got :-) Luckily I'm surrounded by loving and accepting people, but still, it is also scary to know that it's never over with coming out, you will have to come out to people your whole life. But I really hope I will get used to it and come out to more people the next time. I wish all the best for you too and again thank you for your kindness. It's people like you who make me believe there aren't just mean and stupid people on the internet.
@sirikeller3178 жыл бұрын
Morgana Delacour No problem at all. And I'll just touch on one more note you said that is of course a reality, that is you really never do stop coming out. I used to be very shy about this when I first came out and for even a few years after that. Comments from people I knew, asking "do you have a boyfriend?" (or anything like that) I honestly used to just become super nervous and say no and get away as quick as I could. I was embarrassed for a while, before I accepted myself more and realized I can't go through life embarrassed about who I am and will always be. So now if asked such a question I still respond no, but do say that I'm actually looking for a girlfriend. So ramble from me but that part you said will get easier with time as well :) Just remember to love yourself, and remember you are perfect just the way you were born!
@morganadelacour8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for giving me hope :-) I think it will take some time until I can be fully comfortable with myself and coming out, but I believe that it will get easier. I appreciate it that people who have some experience can give me advice and encouragement.

Refreshing and honestly great. I wish you all the best Steve Grand, and continued success. The world is changing faster these days regardless to the naysayers. I love that the youth today are so vastly different than they use to be. I am also feeling lucky to have had my own kids grown already be a part of this wonderfully changing world. Though they aren't gay they still know they would have been loved as much if they were. This is what the world is all about...being yourself. Loving yourself for who you are~~ :)

Steve, for someone like myself, having grown up as a "normal" kid who loved to spend time in the woods, worked outdoors, hunted, fished, did everything that an all-American boy was supposed to do and be, yet knew he was gay; this video did so much for me. It pisses me off that you were criticized by people in the gay community as a "queen" who was "behind the times" regarding the theme of your video. People don't realize the depth and breadth of homophobia that exists in rural America, and still exists in this country in general. To hell with these people in the gay music critic community. They live in an ivory tower in an insulated urban environment; they should try living out in the country and see just how far they get then. Thanks man...you're great!
