well he WAS is kurt vile's backing band (the other guy in the series who mentioned fahey), so it'd make sense for there to be some sort of overlap with their influences. but yeah, fahey's stuff is ace.

This is one of those moments where I've been listening to an artist and then BAM, I find myself discovering so much more...like finding this video on Steve Gunn playing more guitar. Love it. Saw him with the Violators couple of years back and then saw him live at a venue called Spacebar last night at a steal of a show. Great vibes. Unassuming. Pretty lucky to catch up in an intimate setting. It may be one our last.

@@oaeoeaoRust You can tell by the way Steve talks about the tuning that it's an influence and not exact, and sure enough, if you move what you've written out here up a whole step from d to e you get the tuning that the original commenter has written above. Also you can tell because it sounds like an e major chord when Steve strums the open strings.

It's Anji by Davy Graham. He influenced Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Nick Drake, and all those guys. Jimmy Page was a huge fan, as well. Anji was to the British folk scene what Cocaine Blues was to the American Folk/Blues scene. It was one of those tunes everyone and their brother learned.

That was so hard to watch because his guitar is so out of tune. Honestly, if you're going to make a guitar video for guitar nerd, tune you goddamn guitar! He keeps fiddling with the tuners, and it doesn't get any better. The acoustic at the end was more in tune, but that tele - awful.
