Absolutely outstanding interview with Steve. Thank you. Having now listened to Circus and the Nightwhale a few times, I have to say it's lived up to the descriptions. Its a great, complex ride, an emotional "suite" of songs. One of his best I would say, it has a focus and thread which pulls you through.

Thank you David. Yes, I think the album is right up there with some of hist best work. Steve seems to have been on a new creative hot streak ever since Out of the Tunnel's Mouth in 2009.

I so wish Steve would tour showcasing his prolific solo material which is so brilliant. The Night Siren and At The Edge of Light are my favorites. Saw his last 2 tour stops in Chicago featuring Genesis classics. I believe his fans would warm to him concentrating on his recent works. They are simply too good to leave out in favor of the old Genesis stuff, much as I like that too. Am I alone in this?

Personally I agree. I think there is currently an imbalance between the Genesis and solo material and have said as much to Steve. Superb to have both but in the right proportions.

@@vinylforcharity4132 Wondering, did he seem open/inclined to doing so? Perhaps the addition of orchestration and additional musicians would be too much of a logistical and/or financial challenge.

@@timothyclaffey9138 I got the impression Steve would very much like to, the question seems to be as you suggest, which is whether it would be commercially viable. Let's hope so!

What a true gentleman Steve is. From my own analysis of Steve & his contributions to Genesis & his solo work; the biggest obstacle for him to overcome was his self-doubt. To me he really was crucial to the bands sound & songwriting back in the classic era.

Indeed he is. I could not have been made more welcome.

@@thatsmyvinylanswer I’m taking part in the Birmingham Q&A event for the release of his new album. I have a list of over 12 questions atm.

Hi. I have followed Genesis and Steve since 1975. I can say a lot of things but I think Steve should just forget Genesis. He has a mass of solo stuff, is an excellent guitar player and I look forward to seeing him live again this year. Living is now. Let's hear new songs.

Personally I don't think he should forget Genesis. After all he contributed hugely personally to 6 of their best, and probably the 6 best, albums they ever made. But I do completely agree with your sentiment that his solo material needs so much more live air time. For some gigs it would be good to see the balance flipped around completely.
