I'm seeing this in 2022, I got into Crass in 1982.... 40 fucking years and I still love the music, the sound, and the words which ring more true today than they did back then !!

This concert brings a tear to my eye, Crass were my everything! They never let me down, never sold out, their influence cannot be underestimated, they politicised the yoof whilst making brilliant records.
@clivearmstrong54489 жыл бұрын
Anton Haq Crass also had a policy of no self promotion in the way of T-Shirts, patches etc and yet Steve deems it acceptable to milk it for all its worth. SELL OUT BASTARD.
@antonhaq35039 жыл бұрын
Clive Armstrong I hear what you're saying but there's more to the story. Do you remember, designer Jean Paul Gautier dressing Beckham in a Crass t-shirt? Crass got fuck all, they weren't even asked permission. Just one example, also check out eBay, loads of sellers flogging Crass t-shirts so Steve's attitude is, if there's a demand and they're selling but the band get no royalty why not sell them themselves. It's a tough one, I know Penny wouldn't do that but then he's a man of strong principles, very few are as genuinely righteous as Penny. I see both sides.
@clivearmstrong54489 жыл бұрын
I quite agree mate but it doesn't make Steves attitude alright. Still one of the best bands I have ever seen in the day.
@antonhaq35039 жыл бұрын
Clive Armstrong We're on the same page mate, last time I saw Steve, few years ago now, all I saw was a very bitter man. He even now looks just like the right wing wankers that tried to spoil the gigs, that's pretty much down to hair loss and wearing a green bomber jacket!. Penny is exactly the same, love the guy to bits, you'd never see him compromise, he isn't capable. I honestly believe Crass changed my life or at the least steered me in the right direction and I've never been to a gig since with a similar vibe to Crass live.
@barfly9469 жыл бұрын
+Anton Haq Oh ,so if you are unfortunate enough to lose your hair ,that makes you look right wing ? And nazis have a monopoly on bomber jackets ? That seems a pretty narrow view for a Crass fan .

If only every generation had role models like this! True to themselves, not sell outs!

Seeing the undiluted sincerity and power of Eve Libertine singing this song, and how time compounds its meaning decades after they wrote it, makes me fucking cry every time I watch this video. Complete respect.

morality is derived from doctrine and a doctrine is any programm. Ethics questions all morality even when the current morality is that it is good to put people in ovens. Question all morality. Don't be a reactionary.

Carol Hodge and Eve are amazing here. My two cents about Steve: think what you will about this tour and its purpose. On this, he stands there, a useless man for the moment, in awe of these women and their power. He could have left the stage or merely tolerated it until his turn again. Rather, he is right there, and clearly involved.

I was at both nights of these gigs and although they were great it would have been electrifying if it were all original 7 band members. To experience that line up would've been something very special. Carol done a decent job on vocals but nothing can come close to Eve Libertines voice and delivery as she has one of the most original and distinct voices ever.

We were there, but my OH was ejected by the security, just as Steve et al were about to start. We'd had tickets for 5-6 months, and it was freezing outside. I had to choose to leave the gig, though I DESPERATELY wanted to stay.... Gutted doesn't begin to describe it. To this day

I don't understand, why'd she leave and why does she looked so concerned when she comes back?
@kingfillins41177 жыл бұрын
because its not about a show... or applause.... "In all your decadence people die" For people to die because of decadence... that is insanity... there is nothing to be celebrated... Maybe she puts a wall up... to shield herself from from disgrace... that looks concerned because it is.

verbaledge You're kind of right. French female Nazi sympathizers had their heads shaved by the French resistance so everyone knew who they were. A lot of those women were killed too.

Put together a bunch of talentless musicians with revolutonary wannabes. Add to the mix some basic and laughable philosophy and as a result you get any gig of an anarcho punk band. Bad ideas, worse music. And still they think they have influence on society. That's really a sad story.

@@michelleelliott6723Doing great. Are you an artist? I am thrilled to speak to an artist.
@jasonledyard4043 жыл бұрын
the music could be much better. I always used to step over the passed out Crass fan junkies on St. Mark's on my way to work as an art director in the 90s. Even though I worked at CBGBs for ten years, I didn't know they thought they were punks... I just thought they were hippy druggies. I felt bad for them. It's interesting to know what the well designed Crass symbol stands for now, since I just thought it was a dreadlock white-guy heroin cult at the time.
@damianbylightning68233 жыл бұрын
I sympathise with what you say - but I do admire Rimbaud's take on revolutionaries - in Bloody Revolutions. It's spot on - Marxists are fascist scum! Also, isn't Eve Libertine classically trained?
