I know that Jack White, of the White Stripes band, is doing some kind of project where he's making vinyl records in a factory. There is a sound that is lost whenever you make an MP3, and it is not insignificant. I can hear that a lot of the sound is lost. But analog recording, like magnetic tape and vinyl records, preserves a lot more of the sound in a different way than digital does, and there are some small groups of people that are making an effort to bring it back. A local factory producing these things in the United States, so that it doesn't have to be made by slaves somewhere in China - that would be ideal. I haven't looked into the factory that Jack White is doing - it was a little while back that he released some kind of announcement. I got the impression that they had so many orders coming in, they could not keep up with them all, and the demand was huge.

Isn't the baby story the basis of the musical Steve and Edie wrote called Bright Star? I saw a fabulous production of it last summer at Timberlake Playhouse in Illinois!

I was at Red Hill Cemetery looking at all of Edie's relatives from the Slate Shoals/Powderly area. They should pipe her music into there....a really neat scene.
