In all honesty Mr. Letterman and all jokes aside. Newfoundland does have beautiful beaches and landscapes. (I.e Cape Spear, Gros More national park etc.) We get people from all over the world come here for that and also many other things to see. Congratulations and Happy Retirement :)

@drServitis
@drServitis 9 жыл бұрын
GjpgrD Oh Letterman most certainly was married when he had his affairs. When he confessed to one of the affairs on his show he said that he "was going to have some serious explaining to do to Regina, his wife." I saw the episode myself. Btw, you seem to think that it's ok for a married man to screw other women behind his wife's back. If my wife did that to me it would be game over for us. What's the point in marriage if you can't keep it in your pants with other women??? Bill Clinton did the same thing, and all he is remembered for is being a womanizer. Say his name, and people automatically think Monica Lewinsky, not that he was an effective president that balanced the federal budget.
@GjpgrD
@GjpgrD 9 жыл бұрын
You're wrong. It all came out when he had been married only a few months. And he clearly said in his effusive public apology that these were events that had taken place in years past & were going on no longer. Also, only 2 women have ever been named - obviously Stephanie whose then current boyfriend hatched the blackmail plan, & then a gal who worked there around 1990 who outed herself in the NY Post & said "He was the best boyfriend I ever had." That's it. Unless you want to count Merrill Markoe, Dave's longtime girlfriend who was his head writer for most of the '80s & was his gal since before he even had a show.... or Regina Lasko, a production assistant who is now his WIFE. She forgave him. Why can't you?

When Johnny Carson was retiring and they were searching for his replacement, I'd thought Steve Martin would be a good choice. Maybe if David Letterman ever makes good on his promise to retire, Steve Martin would be a good replacement for *him* .

TheNoiseySpectator They've already found his replacement in Stephen Colbert.
@TheNoiseySpectator

Spencer Luyben I don't have pay T.V., but isn't Stephen Colbert's news interview program satirical. Does he really have the experience to do an interview show where he *seriously* interviews guests? Again, I've never seen his show so I'm not sure.
@spencerluyben5462
@spencerluyben5462 9 жыл бұрын
TheNoiseySpectator Yeah he does a satirical show based on politics IN character, so it will be interesting to see how he performs as himself. He's both a capable and successful entertainer, so I would assume he'll do just fine. Only time will tell
@TheNoiseySpectator
@TheNoiseySpectator 9 жыл бұрын
Spencer Luyben Yes... but someone who is just an entertainer seeks the spotlight for themselves, but an interviewer seeks to put the spotlight on their guest. To do a network's flagship talk show, the host has to be excellent at both those aspects, and other things, too. I'm apprehensive he can do as well as Letterman or Leno, or at least maybe Jimmy Kimmel.

It's strange that Steve Martin has never hosted his own show. I'm not sure how much he could be tolerated over a long-term, and at 69 he's probably not the type the network currently needs to generate additional revenue streams. But, you'd think he would have attempted it or have been approached by now.

After all these years, I still think Steve Martin is one of the most unfunny comedians, ever. To make matters worse, he has stayed somewhat relevant 40 years later, and now enters the phase of "legend," where just breathing gets him a laugh.

MrChrispy777 aaaaa that old familiar feeling of remorse for the life lived wrongly and the big break that never came. It sure must be hard to hide those feelings that gnaw away at you at 3:30 am when you can't sleep because you just can't get over how everyone you grew up with did something interesting with their lives, and all you have are endless ruminations and thoughts of suicide which torment what remains of your tenuous grasp on sanity.

I was a Die Hard fan of David Letterman , I first seen Letterman on his day time Show in the 70's , in later years on week nights after the News a local TV Station would show The Johnny Carson Show and after the Carson Show was Late Night with David Letterman , I watched every night , later on Letterman changed TV Station and I still watched the Letterman show , then George W. Bush was Elected President of this Great U.S of A and David Letterman started Bitching about GW and after a few weeks of DL bitching about GW I stopped watching David Letterman and I never went back to watching Letterman after that , I wanted to hear humor and not some bitter pud habitualy Bitching about the President of the United States of America , I do not and will not miss David Letterman's TV Show , I watched this Video to see Steve Martin

I know it was a joke, but to joke about seniors, some that go through all that and may also have watched this clip, isnt very nice....I just dont like making fun of old people thats all...they should be valued not devalued for being old...these actors will never experience any of the mentioned jokes, but most seniors in north america will go through that and its not nice...instead of valuing our elders we make fun of them as if they are useless and they are a burden to society...sorry had to mention this...cause I have been noticing this in all media...
