This song is iconic to me. The original version is always the strongest. Steve is a rare artist that has the ability to cover a tune and NOT screw it up. And thanking Jimmy at the end is both rare and appropriate. It’s the blues, man, the blues.

I'm certainly nobody to critique a musician withSteve Miller's accomplishments, but I think it's great that Steve, who knew all about classic blues still can cover a newer Jimmie Vaughan tune. Not Forgetting his cover of Jet Airliner by Paul Pena was great (of course I didn't know Jet Airliner's orignins til a few decades later).

Love both versions. I know that Jimmie and Steve are friends and have toured together. Jimmie's has more swagger, swing and grease. Steve's is slicker and more polished. I dig them both.

Steve and Jimmie are guitar greats but Steve is Jimmie on steroids. I actually like this version better. Jimmie's version is great too but I like the beefier tone of Steve's version best. Steve's kinda has a bit of a Clapton feel to it also.

It's important to remember it started out as the Steve Miller blues band. Steve plays like Jimmy used to play before he decided to play with his thumb.
