Stop with the petty criticisms and just enjoy the music. You do not find a "gunfighter" mentality between other musicians of this caliber because they are usually comfortable enough with the body of work they have accomplished and in Steve's case that is huge. What separates Steve from a lot of other guitarists is his ability to hang onto a note until the last second and quickly make the transition to the next.

I AM NOT A MUSICIAN BY A LONG STRETCH BUT IMO,STEVE MORSE IS ONE OF THEE GREATEST GUITARIST PLAYERS THAT EVER LIVED. HE IS A EXTREMELY HUMBLE AND A GOOD GUY. I GOT TO KNOW OF HIM WHEN HE PLAYED ON STEVE WALSH'S SOLO ALBUM WHO WAS SINGER/KEYBOARD PLAYER FOR KANSAS. STEVE WALSH'S ALBUM TITLE "SCHEMER DREAMER" ,STEVE MORSE PLAYED ON 2 SONGS. THE LEADS BLEW ME AWAY AND I HAD TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS WICKED GUITARIST. I DID MY RESEARCH, LOL BEFORE PC'S AND SMARTPHONES AND FOUND THAT MORSE PLAYED FOR THE DIXIE DREGGS. SO....I BOUGHT ALL OF THEIR ALBUMS. AS WELL AS THE STEVE MORSE BAND. THEN ......A MIRACLE HAPPENED. STEVE MORSE JOINED MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIMES CALLED KANSAS FOR 2 ALBUMS. 1.POWER 2. IN THE SPIRIT OF THINGS. STEVE ADDED A DYNAMIC TO KANSAS'S SOUND THAT IF YOU WERE ALREADY A MORSE FAN,YOU COULD PICK UP IN KANSAS'S MUSIC. MY ONLY REGRET IS.....HE LEFT KANSAS AFTER 2 ALBUMS. I ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT IF ? WHAT IF HE COMMITED TO KANSAS LONG TERM ? JUST IMAGINE IF......KERRY LIVGREN,RICH WILLIAMS, AND STEVE MORSE PLAYED THE ORIGINAL TRACKS ON LEFTOVERTURE,AND POUNT OF KNOW RETURN ? THESE TWO ALBUMS WERE ALREADY MASTERPIECES,THEN YOU ADD A 3RD GUITARIST NAMED STEVE MORSE ? HOLY KAMOLI BATMAN ! If anybody reads this comment do you feel the same way about Steve Morse that I do ? As well as KANSAS ?

I can find you one, right now. Search "Steven King Birdland solo guitar". Steve uses a lot of tricks to appear more skillful than he really is. Which is not a slam against him, or to claim the he is lying about his skill (he is not), but many people who are not guitarists themselves are easily impressed with fast playing, not realizing the notes are more often than not just notes of a held chord.
@Tibal44448 жыл бұрын
lol , steven king 's nice guitarist , but can he compose the wonderful electric guitar solo that steve made when, he was the half of steven age ? steven king is a "quidam" guitarist , i dont think he can only dream of being the half of steve morse in thousand years , btw you could give me tommy emmanuel songs if you wanted to show me a real good fingerpicking guitarist PS : i play the guitar and i know that "playing fast doesn't mean being the best olololz hendrix was de best lolz" .... -_-' c'mon seriously dude ? pps : steven king probably not able to play with a pick , not even a single pink floyd solo correctly .
@thinkcivil16277 жыл бұрын
Why are your "compliments" always backhanded? A lot of the "tricks" you are referring to comes from having to transcribe what is on the album so it can be played live and usually solo. Steve is one of only 3 guitarists to ever win "Best Overall Guitarist of the Year" award 5 years in a row (rock, classical, jazz, blues, prog rock, bluegrass, country, etc.), retiring him from competition. Voted on by other guitarists. You have to compare apples to apples when talking about talent.
