Not only one of the most gifted guitarists of all time, he is one of the nicest, humble human beings you will ever meet. Listen to his music, be in awe of the speed, clarity, tone, sound landscape he creates and try, just try to be unhappy.

i don't agree Jeff. He may not be a household name, but most musicians know of and highly revere Steve Morse

Listening to him talk about playing outside in Philly brought tears to my eyes. Steve Morse's music has played such a big role in my life. I'm 42 now and I've listened to him since I was 15 and I still listen to Dregs and SMB albums more than ANYTHING else that I listen to. It breaks my heart that he's having those problems with his wrist and has to change his entire picking technique. He's such a giant and he's IMMORTAL to me.

Wow, that is so amazing. Please join facebook.com/groups/stevemorse for all things Morse. And yes, the wrist trouble is heartbreaking....

I've seen your FB page. It's GREAT! A piece of totally useless information. I used to do the website for him during this period web.archive.org/web/20000229185755/www.stevemorse.com/ I feel bad to this day because I let him down. Some guy was doing his site and he never posted updates when Steve's management (Frank Solomon) would ask him to and I talked with Steve about it at an SMB show in Atlanta. Long story short, I convinced him to let me do the site (free of course) and he kept asking me (he was just being wise and he knew I was young and would probably wind up doing the same thing) "what happens when you get tired of doing it?". I convinced him to let me do it and did so for a few years. After that I got a job in DC and really let the site go. I still feel like absolute crap about it because I know I let him down and being young / busy is no excuse. I finally gave the login information to Daniel Bengsston who took over from there and did a GREAT job. I've no idea who does the site today but it looks like he's running into the same problem - an update about once a year. At least there's Facebook right?

Steve Morse is one of the most genuine people I have ever known. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few times. He's not only a great talent and visionary musician but a really kind person. His message at 3:14 about musicians not knowing their limits is one of the biggest lessons I got from his music. I owe him so much. There is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to his music.

As a 14 yr old kid in 80', discovering Steve Morse and the Dregs completely change my life. It change the way I listen to and play music. His music has brought me so much joy, its really hard for someone else to understand. He was the perfect Guitar hero to look up to. He was always kind and humble at the many clinics I had the privilege to attend. He actually signed my music theory notebook. If my kids were to idolize someone in the music industry, you could not ask for a better example of someone who attained the utmost high respect of his peers, by his attitude toward his fans and the level of complex music he was gifted to write. He still influences me today at 51 yrs old. And I could say the same for Rod Morganstein as well. I always buy his music and wish him the best. Thx Steve!

Marije Essink Yeah he's extremely humble in every interview I've watched of him. One of the greatest and most complete guitar players on the planet. You're so luck you got a chance to meet him, I envy you :). I wish he'd do another SMB album, or even better, a Dregs album instead of FC or DP. Thanks for sharing and cool fanpage on facebook :).

Thanx a lot for sharing these pure diamonds Marije !!!!....When I'm listening "Morning rush hour" on "Coast to coast" I'm thincking "...it's impossible to play this piece perfectly on stage...maybe only Steve can do that..."...and yes Steve performed "Morning rush hour" Live at least as well than on the CD !!..It's incredible, this track is a real Master piece of pure rock....but so many styles are played in 1 minut while Steve is playing.... Theres's no word in any language to describe the quality, the technical level, the musicality of Steve pieces of Music..I love many guitar players, all are very very good but Steve is so far from his friends musiciens...JUST AWSOME !!!... I love so much this guy !...He's a so sweet and funny human being with the technic of a Terminator !!!

Actually Steve has been playing like that since the 70s even if that little bit sounded similar to Cliffs of Dover. Eric played and sang on one of Steve's albums in the mid 1980s called Stand Up.

Actually Steve Morse, has been in Deep Purple, for 22 years. And been a great teammate to that great band. Steve's attitude is the only thing, more virtuosic. Than his guitar playing.
@MarijeEssink9 жыл бұрын
20 years and a bit, not 22 yet. His first Deep Purple show was November 23, 1994 in Mexico. You're right though about his attitude :) Check out facebook.com/groups/stevemorse

I notice one thing about Steve and that is NO EGO. I wish rock guitarists could learn that from him. Everyone is trying to one up each other these days. We are not God. We are not better than each other. I can play anything I've seen Steve do so far. I don't think I'm gifted or special. I just learned from other "humans" how to do it. What is it that we do that is so important anyways? It is not like we are curing cancer or saving the world with our licks! Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 8:1 "Knowledge puffs up while love builds up".

A very dear friend of mine took me back stage at a Purple show and we got to meet them back at the hotel. Steve showed up after he had a chance to wind down a bit. I'd met many famous musicians before and I was shocked at how Steve just kinda showed up and sat down with us and just hung out. That whole "no ego" thing you see with Steve in the videos is 100% REAL. Super kind guy. He's like your next door neighbor that you like.
