Some of Nash's best plays during the Phoenix Suns playoffs runs in 2005, 2006 in 2007. Most influential point-guard in contemporary basketball. Pure genius.
Special thanks to the allsports-tv community for providing some of the game footage.

Most underrated two time MVP EVER! People always think of only the passing first. They forget the offense, the quickness, the first step. Had no fear of the paint either and the bumps and blood to prove it!

Steve Nash has also come the closest to shooting 50/40/90 for a career in the regular season and playoffs. Nash shot 49/43/90 in his regular season career - Curry and Mark Price are the only other career regular season 90% FT shooters - both shot at least 47/40/90 Nash shot 47/40/90 in his playoff career - only player to simultaneously shoot 40/90 for a playoff career

Made the 2005 WCF with Joe Johnson missing more than half of the 2nd round against Dallas. And the 2006 WCF despite missing Amare for the entire season and playoffs. After reaching the 2006 WCF, Raja Bell was also injured and missed 2 games. The Suns were 2-2 against Dallas when Raja played but 0-2 without him. Had Nash only dealt with one injured starter in Amare rather than both Amare and Bell, they would have had a chance to make the 2006 Finals. All players who averaged 20+ PPG, 10+ APG in multiple playoffs lasting more than 2 rounds - Magic Johnson x3 - 1986, 1987, 1991 - Kevin Johnson x2 - 1989, 1990 - Steve Nash x2 - 2005, 2006 Intangibles - elevating teammates 1. Shawn Marion only has one playoff series of 15+ ppg without Nash, when he averaged 18.5 ppg on 37% in a 1st-round loss to the 2003 Spurs 2. Quentin Richardson never had 10 ppg in a playoff series without Nash 3. Amare Stoudemire had a high of 15.3 ppg in a playoff series without Nash 4. Raja Bell never made the playoffs as a starter without Nash 5. Boris Diaw only has one playoff run of 10+ ppg without Nash, when he averaged 11.6 ppg in a 1st-round loss to the 2015 Clippers

Super underrated, crazy how people say he shouldn't have won the MVP when in one season without any other major additions Suns went from 29 wins to 62 in one season. Then the following season lost Joe Johnson in FA and Amare due to injury almost the entire season and led them to the WCF. Remember, similar roster from 2 years ago that won only 29 games and lost 2 starters. Still 54 win team, 2nd seed in the east and WCF appearance.

Yes. Everyone forgets that Amare missed the 2005-2006 season/playoffs. The Suns would have easily won the championship that season had Amare been healthy.

Talk more about how raja actually played off nash and how that helped him in the starting lineup if you want to better illustrate your point. Because a young Raja Bell is getting decent minutes guarding Kobe in the 01 finals so it's not like he wasn't going to see the floor without Nash.

Between 2004 and 2007 Nash was easily the best player in the league and it wasn't even close. People can mention Shaq and Kobe and Wade and Lebron, but nobody impacted the game the way Nash did.

RJ Barrett is the god son of Steve Nash. Nash is a player consultant of the Warriors to ahem Steph Curry & he and Giannis Antekumpo did some training together at some point. He definitely should be recognized for how he played the point guard position.

His move is really unique. Although not flashy or stylish, somehow unpredictable and fun to watch. And so effective that it made it possible for a 30-year-old 6'1 player with only moderate athleticism to play against much more athletic NBA players and shoot 50/40/90 and make 10 assists.

@ramenmusix1198
@ramenmusix1198 6 жыл бұрын
confused as to why you'd pick Jason Kidd as Steve Nash put up better numbers in his prime compared to JK in his prime and also Steve Nash played consistently for a lot longer he put up 15+ points and 10+ assists with 50% from the field and over 42% from 3 pt for almost 7 years straight . Jason Kidd was lucky to shoot over 40% from the field and lucky to shoot over 35% from 3 pt always averaging less assists which is the main stat for a pg not rebounds which obviously he did better with due to being taller.not to mention his poor FT shooting. don't get me wrong Jason Kidd was a legend. but Steve Nash is undeniably the better point guard. and better player all around not to mention he was a 2 time MVP it can't really be argued in Kidd's favor

That Guy Luis the only thing than kid does better than nash is defense and rebound, nash was more clutch, better shooter, scorer and playmaker , jason kidd two finals are in a pathetic east, nash always has hard life in west and dont get any finals because of spurs and injurys, if nash played in mavs they would win title too, nash is better than kidd and not even close, nash cp3 and stockton are better than Isiah thomas and kidd but both has title and people overrate them

Stockton to me is the best point guard ever. But if Nash is not in your top 5 ever, then you are insane lol. His IQ/Passing ability can't be denied. Along with Iverson, Murphy, Thomas, + Stockton- Nash has solidified himself as one of the greatest small players of all time.

This is a masterclass in shot selection. There are barely any crossovers, or heavy iso possessions, but just knowing when and where to use a screen or exploit a mismatch. I wish some of the more talented scorers watched this, and got themselves some easier shots.

Just the patience. The awareness of where you screener is, where your man is, and where their help is. The shots seem wide-open, but his use of mini-hesitations and changes of pace are impeccable. He uses them to manipulate the defenders balance and positioning. If you can trap a defender between assignments/decisions, or even slightly push their momentum away from the contest, you'll always get a good quality shot. It's not that defenders didn't respect Nash, but rather he put them difficult situations.

Keep in mind Steph Curry when you watch the later end of this video. I'm sure Curry grew up if not having some type of relationship with Steve; then you can tell that you maybe watched him. Their ryhthmetic are sort of the same! Curry's edge would be his height over Steve, but the both possess a connection to the basketball where as the can pretty much do whatever they can imagine with the ball! It's an art; and the possess it, and with fundamentals!
@bakothegreat6986
@bakothegreat6986 2 жыл бұрын
They the same height but what makes curry better is that he is everything Nash is but score first, better off-ball, better shooter ( which Nash is a top 5 shooter, it's just Curry is Curry) and more athletic with better defense. What I'm starting to realize is Curry took from Nash and improved it and utilizes it more.

Man I get so tired of people over praising steve nash. He won 2 mvp’s that was supposed to go to Bean #24 who after the goat retired handt the keys to #MAMBA24. It’s a shame and a travesty that all the players,coaches and about 96% of GM’s knew KOBE GOT SHAFTED BY all the writers who called him selfish and not a team player. If you gave Kobe the team with Stoudamire they would have won the west at least. He was scared of all the lights and glamour of L.A. when howard,he and Kobe tried to team up. He was soft and shouldn’t have been MVP those 2X’s! That’s why Bean did phoenix so wrong in the playoffs. First ballot HOF’er I think not.

He was a brick layer. 39% usage rate compared to Nash 23%usage. Kobe missed 15 shots a game. Just like a TO. He only averaged 1.1 more rebounds then Nash, even though he's 4" taller and played more MPG. Barely more assists than TO's. Only shot 45%. Seventh seed. Nash way more efficient and made his teammates better. A true MVP.
