I had pretty much the same reaction when I heard this. I will always love him no matter what. I bought the Christmas album last year and loved it but won’t buy another of the same songs just to get two extra. If I can get them as singles I will. I read somewhere he has some more upbeat songs he has coming. I hope so.

It's frustrating, especially if you're like me, and purchase physical media, as buying last year's album for two new songs, in my opinion is really poor marketing, and for someone of his caliber, and knowing how we as fans appreciate all of his work, I do hope that CD singles become available of the two additional tracks. If not, I'll be purchasing MP3s of the songs, much to my dismay. I do hope that an album along the same lines as "Traces" is on the way though, he can still belt it out like no one else... I'm glad you like my reaction! =)

This made my day. It reminds me of our late night college conversations. The first time I heard this song was during this video, so it was nice seeing your reaction while I was also hearing it for the first time. I had the same "it was well done, but not sure how to feel about it" response. I think I just wanted a Steve Perry song, or perhaps Steve Perry adapted for 2022, in the same way that Bon Jovi evolved while still remaining the same. Agree that there's no such thing as a bad Steve Perry song, but this one left me wanting to listen to his old tracks, instead of playing the new track more.

I agree that certain music can take us back in time, in terms of the artist, and conversations, which we had in abundance. I'm glad that you enjoyed my reaction, while simultaneously listening to the track. What's annoying to me are the facts that it's one of two new Christmas songs, on a Christmas album, which is identical to the album he put out last Christmas with the exception of the two new tracks, all but one of which is original. Also, his last album of original material was released in 2018, with an alternative acoustic version a year or so later, followed by last year's Christmas album, and now this same album being re-released for this year with only two new songs. He doesn't perform live anymore, and he's got the time, so my opinion is, "why waste any more time?" Yet another factor is that, it is a Christmas album, and therefore seasonal, detracting from yearly sales and media coverage if it was simply an album of regular songs! I'm still trying to decide how I feel about the song, whereas the new Journey Album is something I can't stop listening to! Feel free to explore other videos here, and thanks for making contact, it's been way too long...

No matter what music he does, he does it with his heart and soul, which is rare these days, in popular music. I have listened to this song several times since my reaction, and everything about it is great, perhaps I just need to be more in the Christmas mindset to really enjoy it, more than appreciating it as a work of art...

Well this old person at this moment has Steve's Traces, 3 Journey discs and Todd Rundgren all loaded up on my Sony disc/radio player that I've had for years. Music is playing in my home all the time, I do have some country from the 70's and 80's but not a lot. I do like Steve's new Christmas song but it would be nice to hear a few new rocking tunes from him too. All in good time when he is ready, who knows, ......Maybe next Year.........😁
