He created the whole industry if you think about it cause the 78 through 86 era was rocky as fuck and Rocco came along and changed everything from 87 till now, we are still living in the Rocco era. @@ItisMeMike

Watching it in slow mo, I see he basically does a old school kickflip but with a sex change/hippie jump 180. The board never rotates, just flips. He lands on the tail in a bit of a pivot to give it the illusion of a big flip. At that point he’s riding the board “backwards” from how he started

he did a frontside 180 and he pushes mongo, intersting
@pressureflipin19924 жыл бұрын
The great thing about that is i really don't think freestylers had any concept of front side 180 or backside, people skating pools and transition did but on flat ground it was a new thing

Yeah right! He's the reason why your favorite pro skateboarder is able to make real money now a days! He's the reason why we skate the boards we do, the shoes, the clothes, music. Everything. He invented street skating. Don't believe me? Do some research
@morgellon7877 Жыл бұрын
@@pressureflipin1992 Dude, street skating has always existed. This old drifter dude who was the Pied Piper of my little desert town was hopping on benches in the 1960's; he would do basically like a little ollie and level it out with a nose wheelie. He didn't try to take credit, he just explained a trick he used to do; he won some championship in like 1964, slalom and freestyle. Jeff Duerr invented what we know as the ollie (originally called the Due-air) and was ollieing up curbs in the laye 70's, along with some other guys; it wasn't a big deal like vert, so nobody really cared. Lance Mountain was acid dropping off over head-high roofs in 1983, helped invent slappies around 1980 or 1981. Rocco and Allen Gelfand invented fs pop shoves and were doing it over stuff in 1979. Rocco deserves some credit, but Gonz, Natas and Guerrero deserve the most, in my opinion.

The only person who gave a shit about Freestyle was Rodney Mullen! That is a fact!
@80sFreestyle7 жыл бұрын
If that was a FACT, there would never have been freestyle contests, freestyle skateboards, freestyle ads in magazines or other freestylers. Rodney would have been the only person doing it. Freestyle was a big part of the contest circuits in the 70's and 80's. Know the roots of skateboarding.
