@valkyrie13283 ай бұрын
That's literally the enchantment Odin put on it though? "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, SHALL POSSESS THE POWERS OF THOR."
@kellymartin26033 ай бұрын
@@valkyrie1328 That's sort of how it feels in the first Thor movie, since he loses his powers when sent to Midgard (Earth), and it's pretty clear that he only gets the powers back when he is 'worthy' (by essentially sacrificing himself), but in Thor: Ragnarok, when Thor tells Odin that he can't use his powers without the hammer (having been destroyed by Hela), Odin says, 'Are you Thor, God of Hammers?', and throughout the whole movie after Mjolnir is destroyed, Thor uses his powers, but it's not really in a controlled way. He only manages to get full control of his powers back after he talks to Odin (or Odin's ghost, hard to say), so whether the lightning powers come from Mjolnir directly, or from within Thor himself, isn't strictly clearly defined. What we do know is that Thor has them when separate from the hammer, as long as he believes in himself (post that part in Ragnarok), but also that Steve could use the lightning powers while in possession of the hammer, so maybe it's a bit of both. Like, Thor has innate powers, being the literal God of Thunder, but also, Mjolnir has the ability to allow people use of the same powers to what is probably a lesser degree (a bit like the Relics in Doctor Strange). Then again, Steve isn't the only one we see other than Thor who uses Mjolnir's lightning- Jane, for one, and I'm not sure whether Hela could use it, considering that Mjolnir was originally hers. There's a theory that since Mjolnir was intended to channel Thor's power, as Odin says, then it works based on the powers of whoever wields it (aka, Hela would shoot knives or pure death of something), but that doesn't really explain why someone like Steve, who doesn't have any lightning powers (that we know about) could use it to shoot lightning. I think it's mainly just a case of the majority of people knowing that Mjolnir's does two things (shoots lightning and returns when called), and as such, they just decided to let Steve be able to use the lightning thing too.

@@Blitze9792 I think you have a point. I'm open to Thor fans to come here to disagree, but I do not accept arguements involving Thor throwing the hammer massive distances to build up momentum. It only works if the enemy doesn't know he can do that and because he has the godly strength to catch it without destroying him arm.
