GRAMMY WINNING PRODUCER/ARTIST STEVE TYRELL INVITES HIS LEGENDARY SONGWRITER AND ARTIST FRIENDS TO A HEARTFELT CELEBRATION OF ‘THAT LOVIN’ FEELING’
The Renowned Singer’s Ode To What He Calls “The Great American Songbook 2” Features Classics By Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Leiber and Stoller, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Burt Bacharach and Jeff Barry/Ellie Greenwich - And Guest Appearances By Dave Koz, Neil Sedaka, B.J. Thomas, Bill Medley, Chuck Leavell and Judith Hill.
Ever since his glorious surprise version of “The Way You Look Tonight” in the 1991 film “Father of The Bride” paved the way for his extraordinary second career as a GRAMMY Award winning producer/vocalist, Steve Tyrell has been setting A New Standard (the title of his 1999 debut album) for interpreting the Great American Songbook - most notably on Songs of Sinatra (which reached #5 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart) and his most recent Concord Records release, It’s Magic: The Songs of Sammy Cahn (#2). On his 11th album, That Lovin’ Feeling, he celebrates what he calls “the Great American Songbook 2; the next generation of the Songbook,” recording seminal rock era classics penned by legendary songwriters (many renowned for hits penned at New York’s famed Brill Building) who are also cherished longtime friends.
While sharing the enduring magic of timeless songs by the songwriting teams of Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil and Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich as well as Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, Toni Wine and Carole Bayer Sager, That Lovin’ Feeling sets itself apart from most tribute recordings with spirited guest vocal appearances by Mann, B.J. Thomas, Neil Sedaka and Bill Medley in addition to renowned backup singer Judith Hill (featured in the Oscar winning documentary “20 Feet From Stardom”) and Tyrell’s daughter Lauryn Tyrell. The set also includes key instrumental contributions by Stoller, keyboardist Chuck Leavell, saxophonist Dave Koz and even playful hand claps by Jeff Barry and David Palmer (lyricist of Jazzman.)

There are not enough words to describe the unique talent and gentle soft soul that was B.J. Thomas. He was just too good to carry on in the industry. Its a shame there is so much corruption, lies and drugs the music industry possesses. Regardless, we his fans continue to love and appreciate each in our own unique way. R.I.P. BJ you are forever.

What a most beautiful voice B.J. Thomas had and will always be remembered for. His voice and songs were the best in the 70s when I was a teenager and have not been forgotten ever. In fact I only bought B.J. Thomas All the Hits Ultimate Collection CD the other day and have not stopped playing it. It is something else and his voice was too. So sad that he is no longer with us what an absolute legend!

The great singer B.J.Thomas as well as Elvis Presley did not die, he passed to the other side of life. It will be in his songs his legacy to all the young people of the 70s who sang and rocked his songs, which reach the minds and hearts of millions of young people around the world. His spirit already rests in Peace in the Creator's company. Thank you for passing through Planet Earth while you lived here. I miss your interpretations a lot.

Guys - thank you for making such an effort in the recording of this song. 50 years have passed and I’m loving it more than ever! All those old time talents - thank you, thank you, thank you, for thrilling me over and over. I just cannot get enough of this song. We listened to it on AM back in ‘72., but I was too young and stupid to appreciate the tenderness and vulnerability of a 16 year old mother and her newborn. When I heard it again yesterday I could not stop crying. Truly an under appreciated masterpiece in a sea of mediocrity. You have so much to be proud of, and you have my deepest respect. Sat Nam!

I always have loved BJ's voice.........AND it's always amazed me how all that power, sound and tonality came out of his mouth when he barely opens it when he sings!!!!!

Só sei chorar ouvindo essa música. Tão linda! Me remete boas lembranças, meu pai e minha mãe vivos. Que saudades! Tantas saudades!
