I've been a fan of Stevie Vai ever since this movie brought him to my attention. He's hands down the one I consider "The GREATEST of ALL TIME"!!!
@s.e.wagger38885 ай бұрын
Nah!!! You ask him - 1) Who was his mentor. And 2) Who he thinks was the G.O.A.T. He'll tell you this, "FRANK ZAPPA".
@angelabarnes75884 ай бұрын
@@s.e.wagger3888 Frank's on my list, too. Long before I ever knew who Stevie Via was! But Steve is my #1. Followed by BB King, & Brian May closing my top 3. What's yours?

@@angelabarnes7588Yngwie Malmsteen you forgot Joe Satrani too Eric Johnson, Steve was definitely awesome but you have to add the above names
@angelabarnes75882 ай бұрын
@@gorillablack3125 No, Satriani & Malmsteen are on my Top 10, along with Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, & Joe Perry. Jeff Beck is #4 on my list, & Buddy Guy is my #5. But Stevie is my #1 all time absolute favorite. He even beats out Brian May, and that's saying something coming from a total QUEEN FREAK. Lol

One theory is it wasn’t buried intentionally but the world had a great flood that actually turned out to be a massive asteroid that collided in the ocean causing a tsunami that almost encompassed the world. Tsunamis also carry a lot of sediment and after the water recedes it leaves everything buried. This could also be the case with Easter island.

Macchio actor. Vai guitar player. Of course Ralph didn't play or at the very least the sounds he played wasn't recorded and made part of the movie. Loved the movie when it came out though. I thought the young Jami Gertz was super hot.

Gertz was definitely hot af

While the film was in theaters, someone connected with the movie gushed over Macchio in an interview that he had learned guitar and played all the songs his character did. I thought I remembered Steve being the one that said it.

Did you kno it was actually that exact guitar solo that made him famous. Mind you there are some things they tend to leave out for good reason
@DVEX10009 ай бұрын
Not entirely true. Rock fans were aware of Vai for many years before this movie was even thought of. That solo may have put him in the spotlight with fans of different genres but to say this solo made him is not correct, respectfully speaking.

ROFL whaaaaat?? That's so wrong it hurts!!! Vai worked transcribing Zappa's work since he was 18!!! Also played in Zappa's band since 1980, a whole 6 years prior to Crossroads!! Frank himself used to call him his Little Italian Virtuoso, being credited for guitar stunts or impossible feats... if that's not being famous, I don't know what is.
@ronhenry20257 ай бұрын
Nope, Vai playing as Zappas Stunt Guitarist, playing the guitar like a violin on God Bless Video, and being David Lee Roths "the guitarist who replaced Eddie van Halen" made the World way more aware of him than the movie. The movie was just a huge bonus at the time for Vai and did help get the word out. Overall 1985 was the perfect storm for Steve!
@mistermyself112827 күн бұрын
Vai was a guitar hitman, is why he got the part. He worked in for many bands. Touring with Frank Zappa from 1980. His own solo album was out before this movie and he was developing his own signature Ibanez guitars (JEM) years before this movie. He was already a star.

Everybody knows that Ry Cooder played patrs of Lightning Boy in "Crossroads" Anyone that plays a guitar (over elementary level) knows, that slide guitar is tuned otherways than classic one and it,s almost impossible to play a slide blues riffs and classic parts using the same tuning. So Ry Cooder played different parts of this scene on different instruments tuned in a different way.
