Steve has such an innocence in his display of the love for his guitars, friends, and life. Its not just his playing, its him.

Yeah, I get the feeling that him, and Satch, are some of the most humble and chill guys in the music industry. I guess when you got nothing to prove (And vai really does have nothing to prove, his talent is beyond reproach) it gives you space to be a be a more agreeable person

Frank Zappa's wisdom is still so relevant - "Guitars aren't so sacred" - shout that out brother. I love seeing Steve in his home studio and thinking about all the stories that reside in the guitars that are all over that space. And hearing the stories that Steve is happy to share with us.

Little Green Men - fantastic! Back in the day I would put on Flex-able when friends were round and just wait for their reaction to There's Something Dead in Here. They knew I liked Zappa so it was to be expected that I'd make them listen to some weird stuff but that final track was always a shock to the system.

@2:55 Matthew’s Music in Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island. Spend many MANY hours there as a kid. One memory that sticks out was they had the Guitar Player Magazine with Steve on the cover in 1986, playing that mini guitar (think it was his first GP cover too) and I had no dough. Went back the next day and they were all gone :(. Bummed me out. I was just a kid so didn’t know about back ordering issues or whatever. Years later … thanks to EBay , was able to get that issue 😊 We need music stores in malls to make a comeback.
@junodonatus49062 күн бұрын
I was knocked out when he mentioned that store. I also got my frist guitar there. It was "The Cat" model by Aria Pro Ii, color white. I was also 15.

Today I don't think mom and pop music stores would be able to compete with larger chain stores.

This whole time I thought Inviolate was pronounced differently. I was saying it like Inviolayt lmfao I really liked the song Little Pretty, that one and Apollo In Color were my favorites. Thanks for sharing the cool videos with Steve Vai I love him. I love his music of course but more importantly I learned some things from him as a person outside of music that helped me when I was struggling the most.

@@DennisTeti no, he’s playing it on the Beat tour with Adrian Belew. It’s an evolution of the StratoJem he used on Candle Power, apparently

I wonder what the 21 fret “yellow” JEM could be , the one on the left?
@PatternRecognitionMusicАй бұрын
He's always had an endless stream of variants floating around - that one looks like ash and maple with SSS and a non-locking trem, very Strat-like; he's been known to dabble with builds that are evocative of more traditional setups like that.
