I believe Steve Walsh is hands down the best singer in rock. I honestly can’t think of anyone who has more range, strength and emotion. I realize he’s not there any more but he ruled in his day.

I agree. And also the way he sings every single word with such raw emotion and SOUL. No other voice has moved me as much as his. And as you say, he really WAS unbeatable range wise and every way imaginable throughout the entire 70s and into the early 80s.

Another Steve Walsh closet gem! Could've been a hit with the right sound engineer and production!

It's amazing how great Kansas and walsh were back then. I don't think either Livgren or Walsh would have made it without each other!

it doesn't matter if anyone believes it or not STEVE WALSH is in the top 5 of the best singers in rock,my choice changes constantly for the 2-4 position,to state number one is a argument, instantly, but WALSH is brilliant and eccentric, which is normal for a genius, make no mistake his talent is a multifaceted, his vocals were his high point, his competion knows who he was,is,oh yeah

"Up on a shelf, after I'm gone....the future goes on". Inspiration's wonderous resignation... Thank you Steve!

Well it could have ended up on Vinyl Confessions I suppose, or a second Walsh solo album after Schemer Dreamer, and I think its a lovely song that definitely should have been released on something. There's so many of those gems out there that just never ended up on a record.

Thanks, Linnea! Awesome and haunting song! Steve's writing ability is off the chart, out of sight, and beyond measure. Seems most people just can not comprehend it. {:-/

This song reminds me of "Questions of my childhood" from Leftoverture. I'm not sure just when this was recorded but I have to believe a studio version would have made it on to an album if Walsh had stayed.

What a song! Thanks for posting, love it. Great chord progression and vocals. It could have fit on Schemer Dreamer, such a fun album. So many nights . .
