Their ERA was the best.....but now no team can dominate like them.....not even the new Australia.

@@olivertwist8292 that era did see cricket viewership and fan following on a whole different level which is incomparable but we also can't outrightly deny that in this era the gap between top notch teams and others finding themselves a little lagging than others is significantly very less as compared to the gap between teams say 20 years ago ,so that level of domination is impossible but we do England and India a little ahead of other teams that's why this Australian team often gets criticised coz ppl often compare to that great Australian team played under Waugh and Ponting .

Imagine increasing your average , problem solving against the short ball by removing the hook shot, becoming a great captain and being reliable in a crisis somehow being translated into the less stylish waugh, seen as selfish and too defensive. People who know nothing about cricket and hard work will never recognise S.Waugh. A talented bat who set aside the way he looked to give Australia results and a rock to rely on.

Australian skipper and all rounder Steve Waugh was my childhood crush. Steve Waugh from Oceania. I enjoyed his walking talking stares. When he came for the toss round, wearing that cap and that silk coat, reserved, eyes either looking forward or looking downward, my heart beat faster. I remember him holding the trophy with his hands smiling when the nation won the world cup.i think that was 99'. I still do love him. As Shakespeare wrote in his sonnet about love - ' ......it is an ever fixed mark', ' .......love's is not time's fool ....' Best of luck captain for your present and future

Loved watching the Waugh brothers bat for different reasons. Mark was poised, elegant, composed. Steve was dogged, a fighter. If you had your back to the wall, he's the guy you'd want. And then there's Ponting. Punter had both of those qualities in some measure.
