Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young reflects on his time with the 49ers, including his "always awkward" relationship with Joe Montana, whom he served as a backup. Despite the awkwardness, Young recognizes that both he and Montana were driven by a shared desire for success. He also chats about his decision to remain with the 49ers in 1991, a choice that defied the counsel of his father and agent. Young acknowledges the profound impact of his experiences with Bill Walsh and Joe Montana, and ponders the potential alternative paths his life could have taken. #nfl #49ers #football

I lived in the Bay Area during this time, late teens and early twenties, and Steve Young always came across as a very classy guy with integrity with zero ego which is an anomoly, I've always been a fan from a distance of who he is as a man, he's the type of guy you would want as friend/mentor, seperate from the athletic acomplishments, love this guy as a person!🙂

I coached in the Bay Area during his time there and met Steve right when he became a 49er... what a classy dude and really good man.

68 year old lifetime Bay Area resident here. The only time I considered myself a Niner fan was from 91-99 because I liked Steve so much. I appreciated the greatness of the Montana years, but genuinely rooted for them during the Young years for a variety of reasons.

2:15 - Keep in mind, in the spring of 1991 he signed a 2 year $4.5 million deal to stay in SF. It made him the league's overall eighth highest paid player, and most compensated back up. There was no salary cap then and owner Eddie DeBartolo was not afraid to outspend anyone. I would've made the same choice, but let's not overlook the money versus the need to be #1.

I was actually thinking to myself, why didn't Al Davis get him before they brought him up in the video. Well, it's not like Al didn't try.

90’s Cowboys would have destroyed Joe. 80’s early 90’s Parcells era NYGs KO’d Joe twice.

I'd love to hear what Steve candidly thinks of Tom Brady. I hated Brady so much that on 11-23-15 in the opening drive of the 2nd half directly following Toms copycat Joe Montana "quick count play" I post on Facebook, and my words are teleported into the REF-making him blow his whistle "on himself" in Tom Brady's face. Steve, you still haven't left the 4 digit no comma PLAYPEN you were put. Are 5,000 year old trees making 5,000 year old air? You breathe 2025 air, don't you? Now you know why you will live less than 200 years. STEVE, YOU ARE NOT BREATHING THE AIR THE TREES ARE MAKING.

@@ChitFromChinola You don't follow, because you don't know logic. Logic begins at Zero and you weren't. Look at the document proclaiming you have reached an age, and you will find it is void of that age-0- which means your Birth Certificate forms you as conscious as Frankenstein- ALIVE WITH NO AGE.Make your Zero Birthday Card-0-and put your Halo-0-on, because when you change your beginning, you change everything. YOU CHANGE GOD. You have no memory of living your Zero Year of your life. The day you're born is your Birthday, and you can't tell me why you can't buy that Birthday Card, can you?

@@ChitFromChinola On 8-8-15 @ Barrett-Jackson Reno when the bid on the last Michigan bodied 427 Corvette is @ $185,000, I Agent Smith the Announcer, making him say " a two hundred thousand dollar bid has been made". FYI- Barrett-Jackson has not televised every bid since, even after I tweeted them an immediate apology, because I didn't know my thought speed had reached light speed, until it did. Think of a number from 1-100. Lemme know when you have it, and I will tell you what it is, and how it got there.
