I've probably said it before, but I'll say it again: Steve's understanding of food science combined with his culinary observations really elevates this content above the rest and heightens the experience, as well as viewers' comprehension of the meal. Some day I'd like to see exactly how many calories of each meal come directly from just straight added sugar and corn syrup. I couldn't help but notice. Just between the drink and the bar. There's a ton of sugar in that MRE. The bar should more correctly be called a corn syrup bar. Because that's the main ingredient above all others. The drink mix has 68% of your daily sugar intake just in that one drink. How did Americans reach the point where nobody notices how disgustingly sweet everything is nowadays? I like sweets. But nowadays it's just insane how much sugar and corn syrup gets put into literally everything. I've seen Italian dressing with sugar and corn syrup as one of the main ingredients. Above vinegar and oil.
@airhead72687 ай бұрын
@@edwardscott3262 I'm totally with you about how much added sugar is in everyday American's diets and how bad that is. But if you're busting ass day in and day out as a young person working as hard as you can, things like tons of sugar, fat and salt are what you need. That's straight energy and electrolytes you're using to keep going at 100%. MREs are not meant for office workers. Junk food like chips and candy bars are actually really beneficial to soldiers and manual laborers alike, because they immediately use the fuel they're intaking. It's only really bad if you eat stuff like that sitting on the couch because your body turns that rich fuel into fat because you didn't make quick use of it.

I've been watching Steve's videos since I was in college. I went through masters, med school, residency, and my board exams putting on his videos now and then. Crazy to think how he's been a small part of my life for so long.
