OMG ... thank you for posting this video. My charger had been having issues with the ignition for a couple months, dinging that key was in ignition when exiting the car being the most common. Usually was able to turn the cylinder and it would reset. Then Tuesday, engine wouldn’t turn over when trying to start. I did a Google search, found this video, ordered the part, and waited. I second guessed my gut and had the vehicle towed to a chain automotive repair shop, who in turn told me I needed to take it to dealer because the issue was in the ignition someplace. Dealer said they couldn’t even look at the vehicle for a week and a half, so figured couldn’t hurt to give this a try. Thank you so much! After putting everything back together, the car started right up first try. I couldn’t have done this without you and it saved me probably $600 in total.

Jeremy Clemons - I used a metal clip I found in bottom of my tool bag, similar to a paper clip. I was able to short and get engine to turn over, but since ignition actuator was busted, cylinder wouldn’t rotate to start/on and wouldn’t start.

But because your video was unusually thorough, and you made a point of showing the location of each and every screw and wiring harness to gain access to the ignition and actuator pin - I figured it was worth a shot. Video is on point. Never knew this part existed. Neighbor lady has an '07 Charger, she was asking for a boost, which she hasn't needed since having me install a new battery​. Found the ingition wouldn't turn off, and the car wouldn't start. This was the 3rd video I watched, and by far the best. Her car would not start using the jumper wire. (would crank but no start). swapped out the ignition actuator switch, started right up. About an hour, that includes going to get the part. Great Video! Thanks!!

Thank you for your video it helped a lot. A few points were missed though. Reinstalling the new part. I had a lot of issues because the broken metal from the old unit was still lodged in the housing. My fault for not recognizing this. Spent 10 minutes before I realized this. Also on reinstall there is a cable with a yellow tang the needs to be installed. Drove me nuts for 10 minutes. Key must be in the ignition on reinstall of this cable and turned slightly otherwise reinstall is impossible. Never the less I thank you for this video. Saved me about $800 today. If you are ever in Calgary I owe you a steak dinner and a few adult beverages. Hit me up if you are ever in town. You saved me $800 I wont forget that! Thanks again!

Thanks for posting video. My wife's charger wouldn't crank and was stuck with the PRNDL and odometer illuminated, basically the car was stuck in ACC function so radio and windows worked with key out. The cylinder turned but function wise it was stuck in ACC. Bought the ignition switch (black part on the end the large connector plugs into) and the actuator pin and good thing I did because actuator was broken and piece was stuck in switch so couldn't reuse ( there's extremely small torx screws on the back of the switch so maybe disassembly was possible to get broken piece out but I had a new switch so i used the new one and new actuator pin) fixed the car in less than an hour and avoided a tow headache by fixing it right where it broke down.

Good work on this video! I have a 07 Magnum SXT. After trying like 10 things to get my car out of anti theft mode, replacing the acuator pin is what worked for me. The paper clip trick made my car crank but not turn over, but i only had it on "on" position. Im guessing you have to have someone or something holding it in start position?? The crank did tell me it wasn't my battery or alternator. THANKS for posting this! 😊

Just stumbled on this gem, I’m not sure if it’s going to fix my issue or not but here’s to hoping! I stopped to go inside a gas station came back out, put my key in and it turns but there no resistance, there’s no click for where the accessory power is and you can’t even try to turn it on because it does nothing. The key just turns freely on the cylinder, I’m guessing this would be my issue

Maybe u can help me my wagon my car caught a fire in the inside on the drives side in the garage. Two people have said it was the Cadillac converter on the muffler or electrical it appears to have started from the flood and everything on the drivers side is burned even my drivers door. It's still starts and the windows are going down ,radio working as well. Can u please give me your thoughts. My car also just killed on me before this fire and it started back up. Eye parked it for 2 days and then dicied to park it in the garage mind u the garage has no ventilation in it as well so do u think that may have trigger the fire?

She thought it was stuck in limp mode(it would accelerate over 2800rpm) so she had me use obd reader to check and erase codes. Totally stumped bypassing the starter relay worked to get car started. Was convinced this was my problem, took dash apart checked and my actuator pin isn't broken. Got any other ideas? I've replaced the battery and starter trying to fix it I was hoping this would solve my issue.

I checked the fuses, and they were all okay...turns out that the battery had a bad cell in it (even though it was only a month old), so Wal-Mart replaced it for me, and it seems to be working. Your video is excellent for fixing the ignition actuator, though...I'm sure I'll have to do it one day, so I've bookmarked your video. :)

It just has to crank longer when it's in the run position as opposed to the start position. Actual problem is fixed. It was a broken actuator pin.

Too late now but in case anyone reads this post and needs to know why the key was stuck....when first disassembled as your approaching the part where you dis-engage the security node (the black plastic box on the side of the cylinder) you put your original key in the cylinder and turn one quarter turn clockwise to the accessories position and while keeping the key in that orientation, slide the clip up and push on the tab on the harness itself as you pull on the harness all in one fluint motion, the clip, harness and node (provided you've removed the 3 torx and 1 phillips screw from the side of the cylinder housing prior.{Without describing everything the author all ready did such a beautiful and speedy job of doing first!} ) Once you slide off that harness you could technically pull your key after returning the key to the off/stand by position but typically I just leave the key as I'm installing a new cylinder with all new parts, security node/module, harness and 2 programed key fobs programed to the new node and keys cut to the new pin locations in the new cylinder. If your reinstalling the same cylinder and node just changing out the broken pin in the back the just leave the key in, install the harness once to that point and turn your key back to off/stand by. At the time of completion you'll be able to turn it off and pull it out with ease since the security node harness has been reinstalled. That should answer your question. Please forgive me if I left out a nail/staple or forgot to air up the blinkers I'm sitting on a white chair that's very cold, the white wall is 15 inches from my face and all I can see is my shoes, socks and shorts maybe the rug under my feet. In other words as you are using your imagination to guess where I am and what I'm doing right now I'm using my imagination to think about how I steal chargers in my spare not so free time! Totally joking...about being in the bathroom! Gotcha!

I have a 06 Magnum 3.5 v6 rwd yesterday while waiting for work to open, I have my car off, but the radio on; everytime she went off I would turn the key to the auxiliary power and listen to the radio, I did this about 5 times in a course of 30 minutes. The car cranked over 2-3 times for like 5 seconds then died and now it won't start at all. I get power to everything, battery is good fuses are good, but I did notice the red anti theft light on now which was never on. My key for is shot and, I only have the one; do you think it could be the alarm that's shutting down the car? I believe it is because it thought I was trying to still it by doing that dumb shit yesterday, my car run quiet no smoke, pings, knocks anything, I don't beat on her, I don't even know she on sometimes because she so quiet and she doesn't shake.
