Our Roomba 650 we've had for three years still works great. The battery still lasts for almost 1.5 hours. We run it everyday, have a Golden Retriever and a cat so it's needed everyday. About once a week or two we run a Dyson DC25 for a onceover to get what Roomba misses .
@Miwiz15 жыл бұрын
650 owner here too. It gets the job done every day. I have a Husky at home and the 650 keeps the home really clean. it always finds the way back to the charging station and made whatever modifications around the house so it wouldn't get stuck. I noticed that sometimes it gets crazy and wont leave the charging station room and the Dock light turns on after a few minutes, but its because of all the hair on the brush, wheels and dirty sensor. I have to clean it out every day so it works properly.

Husband doesn't want me to spend the money for this. I live in a late 1800's Colonial with wood EVERYTHING, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 kids at home. Sweeping is a DAILY need. However, I only sweep the entire house about 2 times/week. Mop once a week, and the mopping is usually only in high traffic areas and the bathrooms (3) . In reality, it needs sweeping every MF day. We could probably get away with mopping 1x/week in the fall only. Shit is a real struggle, especially in the NE where I live. 4 Seasons, and all the 4 seasons of different BS that get dragged into the house. Anyway, I'm about to just buy this for myself seeing that I am the sweeper in this relationship. Yo, if I can find a mopping ROOMBA...MY LIFE WILL BE A DREAM. A DREAM!!!!! I work 48 hours/week.. Between regular mother $hit and job $shit and wife $hit my personal self-life is in shambles. I wish I didn't need to spend all my free time keep these raggedy ass wood floor clean. Man, I just saved like 2 hours city commute time during rush hour, a parking fee, and an insurance Co-pay to just share this here instead of at a professional therapist. It was free. Amazing.

So, that little Dyson is really only for spot cleaning. For a house this size with this much carpet and the cats, you should probably get the full size one, and run it every few days.
@deanstewart8727 Жыл бұрын
that's just how they are. Unless it gets close enough to read the home charger they will do this. It could get better over time as it does the same sort of pattern and it might learn where it is but I wouldn't hold my breath. They do need a good cleaning once in a while. One thing I found is if you end up taking it apart which I have, the gearbox even gets stuff in it. The gears in the one I had were made out of some kind of plastic and will wear out over time. If you can get the right size gears you can fix it. Take pictures so you know what goes where if you do take it apart. They are not the end-all vacuum. They just don't have great suction but will keep the place looking better and somehow always finds stuff you miss when doing a normal vacuum. In a way, it's really just a glorified carpet sweeper. So you still need to vacuum the old way once in a while. If you have hardwood or tile floors then that might not be necessary. Still, it's not the end all. Personally, I like them as they always find stuff that's been missed.

That is why I got rid of carpets. You have no idea how much dust and hair they can hold. I now have 2,000 sq feet of solid surface, and run my Roomba 980 about twice a week. I've got a 600 series I picked up on sale for 250$. Get the cheapest one. I like using it every day. If it misses an area today, it will get it tomorrow. Cleans under the beds and furniture. You still need a vacuum cleaner for the stairs. Turn it on when you leave the house or out in your garden. Put it upstairs, when you are downstairs or vice versa and you won't even notice it. A robot is vacuuming while you are doing something else or nothing. It's working right now, when I'm watching this video and commenting. No brainer.

It will not run on shag carpets and you can not have anything on the floor like slippers or shoes as the vaccum can suck up the slippers or shoe laces and become stuck. Also running it every day we have noticed that it smashes so hard into things that it is taking the paint off the front of itself and also along the skirting boards on the walls and also likes to get stuck under the sofa and has cut a mark into the wall with the side brush but over all I still love it as I never have to vaccum myself even though it can hardly ever find the charging base lol. 😊

A few but major drawbacks. I stopped using it for years and don't know what to do with it. It does not clean stairs . It does not clean furniture with low clearance. The auto park and charge won't work if the charger is on a diff floor. It does not clean my house well with 1 dog and 2 cats, and a couple of long hair girls. Need to un-hair the brushes (take about 15 min) after every use. So a lot of manual work to overcome the above. Last but not least, noise - so it can't work during business hours - Both my wife and I work from home and we need a quiet environment to chat online frequently with no fixed schedule I still prefer my cordless Dyson which I have to spend more time for the cleaning but a lot more efficient considering the above. Bought the Roomba e6 this week after all the hype. We live in a 1500sf condo with a finished lower walkout. Low pile carpet in the lower level and the main floor has thicker carpet, wood floors and ceramic tile mixed. It's going back to Costco tomorrow. I am not at all impressed: (1) I watched the unit work in the bedroom and it definitely did not cover all of the surface areas, choosing to go in a small circle on occasion; (2) after approximately an hour of running I removed the filter and there was about 1/10th the residue that I normally vacuum up with a traditional vac; (3) I personally like the look of the carpet after using a traditional vac; and (4) for a few bucks under $300 there's a lot of higher end traditional vac choices. Not for me.

The dyson didn’t cut it for pet hair for me so I bought a Hoover wind tunnel 2 and my god it’s such a powerful machine and sucked up all the dog hair

I wonder if part of what comes out every day is the carpet itself. I can’t have a cat anyway because I’m so allergic to them that even if a cat isn’t in the house, I’ll break out in a rash. As for the Roomba being dumb, the fact that it goes over the same spots repeatedly means more in-depth vacuuming. If you want a single pass, more expensive models offer that.

I love my roomba. my biggest help during the peak of covid when no house help came. I cleans so well, especially places you can't see. Now I'm hoping for a new invention that can climb stair cases.😄

Here's an idea why don't you pick up the chairs and put them on the table. Why stress the thing out. We spend 2 minutes setting the vac up for success. Our Shark IQ mapped in 8 runs.

This joker is on sale for $250. Is it worth $250?

$250 with an expected lifetime of 3-4+ years AND now I get to be lazy and have a machine do my chores for me. Totally worth it! haha

I have 2 cats, no carpet. The carpet collects and stores pet hair until you die haha. I run my roomba when when I'm home cooking or working on my computer, I love it. I agree with you might need a cheaper vacuum for those hard to reach places or quick spot cleaning, but I'm not longer manually running my vacuum daily like I once was. Yes daily, with no carpet to collect my the cat hair, it just floats around my wood floors like tumbleweeds.
