I wonder if you could use the twist mount upside-down to make an elevated table mount

Not really. The camera is too heavy and it wouldn't stand up straight.

That twisty black mount (your favorite), that will only be useful for battery and not with wire cable, correct? Problem with Arlo Pro 2 battery is that it does NOT last long enough. Drains easily. My Arlo Pro 2 had to be connected to power due to short battery life. Pls advise.

Hi. Do you know if there is any way an Arlo pro 4 will stick to the half moon metal wall mounts that you show in this video? Thanks

On your video reviewing the reviewing the ARLO pro 3 You said that it does not have the capability of using the magnetic mount. It surely does. All of the Arlo line does.

Thanks for the video! I found the Arlo outdoor mount to be problematic: the ball would not compress into the socket tight enough to hold the camera reliably when you have to have a funky angle. I purchased two mounts, both had the exact same problem. I took the shaft off and placed a small round piece of pond liner into the socket. That gave the ball something with friction to compress into. With that tiny piece of rubber in there I cannot force the arm down at all on the mount when the collar is tightened. Without it the arm is very easy to move even with the collar as tight as you can make it. This is a super easy way to make the mount much stronger w.r.t. the camera angle.

I bought ARLO PRO 4 xl’s which are much bigger than the standard pro 4 cameras because of the battery housing. The XL’s are also too HEAVY for the cheapo mounts arlo ships with them. Any advice on a suitable camera mount that will support the bigger Arlo XL’s weight?

After using both the Arlo mount and the Wasserstein mount, I can tell you that the Wasserstein mount rusts where it connects to the Arlo. I recommend using the Arlo official mount if the mount is going to be exposed to the elements.

I appreciate this video as well. Just got an Arlo Pro 2 system and the Arlo outdoor mounts; they kind of blow. There is almost no real way to tighten the mount collar down enough to secure the camera at a realistic angle. I had to flip the camera over (luckily the setup allows for a 180 degree rotation) to change the center of gravity on the camera, and even then I cannot get it to the height I want. Ceiling mounting it on the front door patio as that places it the highest I can get it for security. It will sag just from how sad the seating of the ball is into the socket. I am going to try to insert a small round piece of rubber between the ball and the socket and see if that helps. Not impressed with Arlo's mount at all.

Great video :) I am interested in the number 2 mount you had but I'm curious about wether or not the ball joint can slowly slip down or is it very tight? Also with the security chain thing are you able to fit that while using a skin?
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, 2 great questions. The #2 knob mount is really tight and you won't have to worry about slipping. As for the Security Chain, it's a tight fit so you wouldn't be able to use it with a skin.

joint wont slip chain can easily be yanked of with camera

Hi i have had arlo pro 2 for a few weeks now and there are a few points i shall mention magnetic mounts should only be used inside , the little black screw on would be no good unless very high up as they are easily snapped of or can just twist of buy your local burglar i have had to make up out of square box tube and secured that /cut out hole for lens ect and is just about bullet proof if secured properly i also got a third camera and i see that they have made the front part black as with the other 2 that i bought as a pack showed white when you fit the black or com covers on (sticks out like dog balls )

Sorry it took longer than expected. I couldn't really tell the size by just looking at it so i ran to Depot and found the match. It's a wood screw #6 3/4in.

Hi Steve, nice series of videos, my Arlo Pro 2's are going to be mounted up high and I will want to use the power cable you showed on another video. A few of the mounts look like they will block the 'plug in' area on the back therefore not allowing the mounts to work with the camera plugged in. Did you find that to be the case? Which mounts work when plugged in and which mounts do not work with the cameras plugged in. Chad.
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chad good question. I would not recommend the Wall Mount (#1)if you're going to have the cable plugged in. you might loose a little downward mobility with the knob mount (#2) but, the Security Mount (#3) and the Twist Mount (#5) shouldn't give you any trouble at all. And i'm glad you liked the series.

Motion detection only works up to 20' away so will you be running your cameras 24/7 or just off motion? If you are setting them on motion only and have them mounted high I worry that they wont trigger? If they are mounted 15' off the ground then then your triggering area will be greatly reduced considering it has a 20' trigger range?.. Just a thought, just curious. Great video
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, since i'm home i thought i'd do a quick measurement. I have mine mounted 12' up in the backyard and i was able to trigger movement 25' out during the day. Not sure if night time would affect the distance. Also, my sensitivity is set to 80.

Are there any the don't rust when used outside?
@LFiers6 жыл бұрын
As you mentioned in the video, what's stopping anyone from stealing your cameras? You say "#1" is your favorite but aren't you paranoid about someone stealing them? These things aren't cheap so I'd be worried about that. I'm new to wireless security cameras in general so I'm just wondering. What mounts do you use for your front side of your house? Nice video by the way.
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Hi LFiers, Thank you for liking the video. I believe #5 is my favorite and I only use this twist mount in my backyard since it's not secure at all. The thought is that if someone is coming to break in they are probably looking for cameras that are attached to the house and not on a back fence or hanging from a tree. Their only security feature is being hidden. I used mount #2 above my front door because it was high enough that you needed a ladder to get to it. But for the most secure mount i would recommend a combination of #3 and #4. Hope that answered your questions and welcome to the world of wireless security. :)

Question? what would you recommend to attach to vinyl siding... I don't want to put holes on the siding ... thank you
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
That's hard to say because i'm not familiar with vinyl. Since it's outside, you could try to use vinyl caulk. As you know, these cameras + mounts are heavy so i'm not sure you could successfully mount it without them falling off. If you do find a good way please share.

With the number 4 Security mount, couldn’t your recommended installation process, where you put the clamps in place first, just be reversed. Wouldn’t unscrewing the two parts of the standard mount allow someone to take the camera and security clamps with them?
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Once everything is in place and tightened up, the chain is too short to allow the camera to be unscrewed from the security mount. I was very skeptical of this item when i first got it but, after trying it out, it works really well.

Hi Steve, our St has a neighbour from HELL, and everyone has cameras, except me, I'm new to all this wifi hi tec stuff, so have been watching your videos,Can you clarify something for me please, I saw you demo a security chain mount that stops the cam from getting nicked, but as I was watching it you attached it to the cam first then the mount, but you just attached the cam to the mount and screwed the white wing nut thing on the mount, but wouldn't someone just simply undo this and nick off with the cam still, am I right or wrong, hope you can help.
