Nice review Steve (as always)! Props to GM for bringing this to market.

I’m no GM fanboy but I would LOVE to have one of these little supercar Caddies. People who crap on GM quality only to turn around and tout the European brands leave me scratching my head. Have they ever owned (not leased for 2 years) a European car? This V8 will probably outlast any BMW motor 10x over. Sure, it gets horrible gas mileage and will require more maintenance than my [still quite lovely] Honda Accord. But sometimes life just has to be lived.

What a fantastic machine! It's great to see Cadillac pick up where HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) left off ;) These Cadillacs, and their Aussie brothers, are future classics!
@76carmel2 жыл бұрын
Super vehicle. At least Cadillac did not duplicate what the Germans have done with their super supped-up sedans. BMW M5, Mercedes AMG and Audi have made those cars AWD while Cadillac maintained as just RWD for the Blackwing.

Yes! Only AWD for V-Series.

Thanks for a phenomenal ride-along in an incredible car. I wish just ONE reviewer would tell me this car (or the CT-4 V Blackwing) just sucks, so I would feel better about the fact that I’ll probably never have one. Mark my words, though, I WILL have magnetorrheological dampers before I die. And when I do, I’ll talk about them nonstop! “How are your kids?” “Fine. They are both President of the United States. Now let me show you my magnetorrheological dampers.” P.S. Thought of you yesterday when some DB in a WRX almost scrubbed me off the road.

All due respect, the Tremec 6-speed is a fantastic gearbox, but when you're turning 60 in a few weeks like me, and the car will be spending the majority of its time doing city driving and not open roads like ALL the reviews I see, you get the automatic. (Like how I ordered mine) And for those who wonder, yes, I've owned & driven MANY 3, 4 & 5 speed manuals.
@krasnaludek2982 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY … thank you. I had an ATS-V in manual & then a BMW M2 Comp also in manual & just bought the 5 Blackwing in AUTO, because the population keeps growing here … more signal lights; more traffic; less open space for actually enjoying any manner of notching through gears. 👍🏻
@bg13792 жыл бұрын
Awesome review as always. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but what’s “no lift shift?” A total deactivation of the accelerator when the clutch is depressed? Color me confused! Is this common now?
@stevehammes2 жыл бұрын
No-Lift Shift allows the driver to shift gears without letting off the gas pedal. In the case of the CT4-V Blackwing, it allows the turbos to remain spooled, resulting in faster lap times
@haseebmalik3232 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, great review once again, how did you find the accelerator pedal feel? Is it very light like a typical Caddy, or it has some resistance like the german rivals?
@rdollie12 жыл бұрын
Not light. I think it's adjustable to boot (I have everything dialed up on mine so I'm bot sure but it takes at least as much force as an M3 I have.)
@stevehammes2 жыл бұрын
I noticed nothing about it that left any impression at all. It's the mid-to-high effort clutch pedal that grabbed my attention.

Steve… I love driving and this car is exciting, but I can’t drive a stick anymore (I have a disease that has caused me to need hand controls to drive) in your opinion would this car be thrilling enough to warrant the price if you have to use the automatic transmission?
@wheeljack12272 жыл бұрын
YES. Its even faster and has paddle shifters. The manual is better, but kind of in the same way that extra cheese makes regular pizza better.
@rdollie12 жыл бұрын
A10 transmission is the fastest shifting auto in gears 1-4 so the auto is simply faster than the manual, otherwise all other aspects of the experience are the same (and you get a couple additional features with the auto like launch control, remote start.)
@sr166 Жыл бұрын
Is there automatic
@krasnaludek2982 жыл бұрын
Only point I’ll disagree is on the manual transmission. Armchair quarterbacks like to say “it’s criminal to pick the auto,” yet those same people are not actually buying the 3-pedal version, because the reality of traffic hits most of us real quick. That fun quickly becomes a grind. I know because I had an ATS-V in manual & said never again. Just picked-up the 5 in auto, because I live in the typical American suburb that is essentially outter urban sprawl w/ all of its glorious congestion & signal lights every 200 yards.
@firefighterslife87622 жыл бұрын
You can’t spec the automatic with all wheel drive neither. At least not the v blackwing. The regular ct5 v that comes with a twin turbo v6, is available in all wheel drive
@stevehammes2 жыл бұрын
My bad! You’re right. It’s the V-Series that can be had with AWD. Thanks for pointing that out.

I don't know what to even say about Cadillac anymore. So much wrong and so much right and I don't think the CT6 BW even went 2 model years. Cadillac is only kept alive by the Escalade and some sports sedans that have a limited audience. EV's will be their last gasp (and chance) to become truly relevant.
@rdollie12 жыл бұрын
Based on what I saw of the Lyriq design review video last week, I'd say Cadillac put all their attention their for some time. Interior looks to be the first true high-design effort from Cadillac in many years.
@MercOne2 жыл бұрын
@@rdollie1 They said the same thing about the Escalade but once you get past the front row it’s still cheap GM. Even the Lyriq still has the typical cheap GM steering wheel.
