In this video Heimler takes you through Unit 9 Topic 5 of the AP U.S. History curriculum which is set in period 9 (1980-present).
In the 90s and early 2000s, patterns of migration and immigration continued much as they had in the previous decades. Northerners continued to migrate to the Sunbelt states and Latin American immigrants largely took up the task of agricultural work in those states.
All this movement had serious political consequences. Sunbelt states gained seats in the House of Representatives while northern and midwestern states lost seats. Additionally, economists generally agree that immigration had a net positive effect on the American economy during that period.

“Why are white people afraid of becoming a minority? Are minorities treated badly in the United States or something?” - I don’t know who said it, but I saw it in a post somewhere. 😂💀

Hi Mr. Heimler, I just wanted to drop a quick comment to say thank you for putting out these APUSH videos. They’ve really helped me with reviewing for the final exam and also when I was confused or missed certain key points not fully discussed in my textbook. Thanks to you, I felt pretty confident when taking the AP exam and hope that I got a good score. I think I’m speaking out for most of us haha. Again thank you very much!

@@_____________3229 bruh the acquiring of wealth for a people will leads to elevation of status and beliefs. A culture can die in 2 ways assimilation or genocide. By elevating the status of the cultural group more opportunities are available that extent beyond one’s own country. As no matter if a culture is wiped or pushed out in a country it’s become a necessity to understand as those who are apart of wealthy elite to do business. Why do you think Christianity became a big deal, it’s because of trade and economic. Culture and trade go hand in hand. The acquisition of wealth is key to protecting one’s culture and country.

But I live in the Deep South and find it fine 😭. The only over crowded places of note to me are the big cities which is pretty normal for big cities, there’s huge amounts of rural area where I am at least (I grew up part of my life in suburbs, part in rural, and part in major city of Deep South)😅
