A review without actually using it for soldering. That's a first! I own this station and despite the low cost, it works well!

Hi, I just bought my SMD rework station, fromChina, I found it on a great 25USD, and this review you just showed us helped me to see it really is a good product, economic and useful. Thanks for that

Good review. Thank you. I've ordered one. BTW, I noticed a couple times that you just switched OFF the hot air gun while it was ON and displaying temp greater that 100 (e.g. 140). I think you should not do that. The reason is that the heating coil needs time to cool off BEFORE switching OFF. That is why when you place the gun down onto the holster, the heater temp starts to reduce (as power is switched OFF by the controller) and the fan stays ON. Even after reducing the temp down to 100, the controller keeps fan ON for few more seconds before switching OFF and displaying "- - -". This is a safety mechanism to avoid the plastic handle melting.

My son just bought one, about a week ago, he went to switch it on after a week and it didn't work. He opened it up and found the power regulator blown off . It is 8pin dk125. Any suggestions that may help plse.

I have purchased over 300 units and one of them blow up once I turned on the heat gun for the first time, mine burn down the small bridge rectifier (and took with it the DK125 and a copper trace) already fixed the copper trace with a wire and ordered the bridge rectifier and dk125 from Aliexpress for like 2 dollars for 10 bridges and 5 DK125, the parts are already in my city, ordered them like 10 days ago, I will install them and see if that fix the problem of they blow again I will replace the varistor (the x2 cap sims to be fine reading the right value but I have no way to check the varistor)

That's a pretty cool set up what have you used the hot air for? Have you tried it on heat shrink? I'm not sure it will be hot enough.

One question sir. Can you please look at the back side and see if it is 220V/110V swich power supply because i have mistakenly ordered with 110v US plug but i live in EU as well so i can rework just the plug like you did. Thank you.
@SteveJordan4 жыл бұрын
All that it says on the side is 'use only with 250v fuse'. You could contact them to change your order?
@baya244 жыл бұрын
@@SteveJordan Thank you for response. I contacted them and they say that is changed and it is shipped, but still i see on order that is US plug. I am hoping that they are changed it fisicaly but not on paper order.. but if it comes 110V I will change power supply. Resolder my soldering station with another transformator.. Thanx again!

I bought the 110V unit for North America and it doesn't get hot enough. Does anyone know if the control unit has a different board for 110V because mine says 220V input.
@oscaremoralesp284 жыл бұрын
Same problem i'm 99% sure it's just a wrong heating element, mine is measuring 145 ohms, and I'm sure it should be about 40-50 Ohms for 110V. So is likely a couple of bucks fix, but I need confirmation from someone with a 110V working unit measuring the resistance between pin 1 and 3 of the soldering Iron.
@Malcrom19674 жыл бұрын
@@oscaremoralesp28 it should be 20ohms for 120V That's what I have but still not hot enough. 120Vsquared/20ohms=720W

@@oscaremoralesp28 I get 144Ω for the 220 V unit and the one supplied fitted in the unit was 133.8Ω which I suspect is a 110V. pretty sure you have a 220V fitted in yours as standard and mine had a 110V fitted as Standard. I had ordered a 220V lead on mine. I bought my spare ceramic when I bought the unit as someone on Banggood had already mentioned problems with the soldering iron so I bought one as a spare to check against the original.
@oscaremoralesp283 жыл бұрын
@@KingWhiskers1 For 110V they use 40 Ohm for 220v they use 140 Ohm. I have purchased over 300 units by now and they started putting a sticker on the units to differentiate between units using 40 ohms and 140 ohms, also the eat gun uses 20 Ohm for the 110v and 80 Ohm for the 220v (both works with 110V but if you plug a unit with the 20 Ohm resistance into a 220v connection it goes red hot in a second)

Bom dia.
@oscaremoralesp283 жыл бұрын
