Honestly 750hp isn’t all that impressive considering you can buy cars and trucks off the showroom making that kinda power or more. You can take a junkyard LS and a turbo, and make more than 750hp.

Even if i run a 16.99, i will have done an official run at least once, while upon earth. In, an officially untitled racecar. Sometimes the intake is too small making the carb go rich too. Shorten runners bigger plenum. Had a N/A small block we had on the dyno tried from a 1150 to a 1650 carb same results going rich cut the manifold apart made the plenum a lot bigger and shortened the runners picked up 35hp with that being the only change.

Electric vehicles work well under perfect conditions, But add three more people driving at night in traffic in the cold is a whole other story! EV vehicles suck when it comes to towing mileage is horrible and as far as safety goes they are extremely dangerous! But like everything else the companies as well as the media are not showing the public all of that information, Just look how many EV vehicles I have spontaneously burnt to the ground along with everything around them for absolutely no reason! Last year when we had a snowstorm interstate 95 was bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour, Go ask all of those EV owners what they thought of their vehicles! What most people do not know is if a Tesla’s battery goes dead The vehicle Will be stuck in the middle of the road without any way to move it until a tow truck arrives! Also there is no way millions of people or purchasing that garbage! The average cost for that crap is around 60 grand, I have around 30 K invested in my 1993 cobra that also includes the purchase price of the vehicle new! I guarantee you cannot even i’m close to touching my Cobra with a Tesla! Unlike these idiots on KZbin I am an actual gearhead with over 25 years under my belt working as an actual Mechanic! The car is in my garage still fully loaded from leather seats to A/C, I still have the original factory struts shocks springs and sway bars! It has 24,000 original miles, I have driven it from New Jersey to Florida and back for vacation! @@tomhanson4153 If it's an interference engine, breaking a timing belt will always damage the engine severely because every valve is getting eaten by the pistons. If it's not interference style, it will be okay if you stop running it.

Some tracks are not very clean in the pits and return roads, rocks can and will jump up and get between the belt and pulley and ruin your day. plenty of bent valves and depending on lobe position the piston will come up whack the valve and pull or break a rocker stand. Otherwise it is a good general plan to change the belt in the range of 300 runs or so.

Until recently every vehicle I have had has been fuel injected, but now we have two Ford F-1s that I take care of for my parents. The '48 has a 460 with a 4 barrel Edelbrock on it and the '49 is an all original Holley single barrel down draft carburetor. I was into the single barrel, because when the truck was restored the person forgot to cap the fuel tank and it got filled with sand blast sand. That's the theory anyways. It is amazingly simple. It has an idle circuit and an accelerator pump. The rod that connects to the accelerator pump has 3 positions. Cold, moderate, and hot. What that means I don't know. What is cold to me is not cold to someone else I am sure. Lol! I wonder if the 460 is over carbed though, because it is a stock 460 from '71 and has a 750 cfm carburetor on it. It is a thirsty beast. I am probably one of the reasons it is thirsty though. I like the sound of the big block a little too much...lol!

Steve. Do you ever have engines with carbs on the dyno. Do you bring them up to 1700 rpm or so. Before the primary boosters start flowing to see if the IFRs are sized. Holley ships so many with 0.031 IFRs that are sized for a 327. But too lean for a 347, 355. 427s need a 0.035 or 0.036 ifr to not lean out coming off idle.

Dynos & real world are different & what works in the dyno room doesn't always translate to the track. Track fuel & timing demands are rarely the same as on the dyno. Pro Systems usually sends customers a smaller carb than they've been running & the car always picks up. My buddy's 86 SC Cutlas picked up .2 second(from 8.16 to 7.97) & 3(165 to 168mph) mph by simply bolting on a PS carb.

It not about the maximum power that wins races, it's about the spread of power and torque across the usable rev range or the rev range that the engine will be operating in. So very often a smaller carb with provide better intake velocity and a better air-fuel ratio than a bigger carby. Its the same reason why running over-large diameter headers primaries can rob performance. Bigger is not always better.

Good answer. NASCAR engine builders use the dyno to time the acceleration with the load set for the weight of the car/gear, from low rpm to max for any given track because acceleration is the important factor, not peak HP.

How about an explanation of the dyno and tuning strategy you employ. It looks like you pull against a fixed water brake valve setting, probably to simulate the drag racing load profile better. The Superflow dynos have a programmed rpm increase rate which must use a variable load and feedback to control the rate. I’m not really sure what I’m saying is accurate, so can you explain? Thanks Steve, always interesting info on your channel!

Main difference is the webers were designed more for inline engines. 4 and 6 cylinders. The best carb for your engine is the one that gives you all the air flow you need and the best consistent AFR across the rev range. The new holley EFI gear is pretty trick. I'd love to see how an EFI setup would perform against a similar sized carb. I believe the 45mm etc reference was designed to make quick reference to porting sizes. Back in the old days, generally speaking, all ports were round. For a 45mm port you'd use a 45mm carb.

Increase fuel consuption cause carb works on the maximum flow pulling a lot of fuel.

that is surprising it makes 1003 this is your typical 7.80 bracket engine it should be making 1150 to 1200 HP to be a fast bracket engine then it would be approximately in the 1/8 a 4.50 to 4,60 ET. great power gain but week for the cubes probably in the heads and a couple more in the carburetor. speed cost how much do want to spend? thanks S.M.E
