+geekgoddess2.0 Then again Rose just about loved anyone, but I say this was all Steven. Sure Rose moght have influenced him a little, but Rose lacked empathy for people and gems. She was nice and kind, but necessarily loving and benevolent like Steven. She was the type of gem that wanted everyone happy and will you if you were danger. Steven is the type of guy who wants everyone content and joyful. One that will help you when danger or when you're sad....In a lot of ways he's done more than Rose ever could

The last two musical numbers left me speechless too. I loved everything about them, the animation/cherographed, scenery, lyrics, the emotional complexity behind them, etc. Pearl and Greg's heartbreak and then their steps to forming a healthy friendship just felt so real. I'm rambling now but like.. I'm still pretty in awe of this episode. Also, Pearl's line "Now I've got to be there for her son" hit me like a ton of bricks.

Yeah, it's a powerful line... I imagine that taking care of Steven and growing to love Steven must have been both torment and solace for her seeing how he is both Greg's son and therefore a symbol of Rose's love to him and a reason why Rose is gone. If there is truth in the saying that you don't love someone "because" but you love someone "despite"... just imagine the way she must love him. And how much it must cost her.

Not only is this my new favorite song (Sorry Stronger Then You; you have been debunked to second favorite) but this is just my new favorite episode in general. You have no idea how long I have been wanting a Greg and Pearl bonding episode for Pearl to get over her resentment of the fact that Rose chose Greg over her; and I just have to say that it was everything that I could have asked for and more! The anguish in Pearl's voice during the song, the lyrics of the song tugged my heart in so many different ways. Heck I'm not even a Pearl fan, while I have never hated her the fact that everyone on the show is so great I have a difficult time with placing them, but Pearl has always been on the bottom of my favorite list; again never hated her or her character, I think that she's a fantastic character study but dang after this episode; I don't know, I might have to do some rearranging here with my favorite lists. (Although Garnet is still my favorite, and Peridot is my second favorite; that won't change). But dang this episode had me almost in tears! I don't know how they can top this; but it's Steven Universe, you know they will somehow! And of course the healing is far from over but it's definitely a start! XD.Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

Oh my God, this episode... It's so painfully good.... And tells so much about relationships in the show... Pearl and Greg, Pearl and Steven, Pearl and Rose... the scenes that didn't make it into the episode were even more powerful and meaningful... I could discuss it for weeks! I love how Storytime boy noticed the role of the Leader that Steven undertakes, because it is something I have noticed couple of days ago. Technically Garnet is the leader of the Crystal Gems. And yet the Gems... well, as a team and as people barely make it. Why? Because Garnet can't be a leader. You know how Gems have their roles they were designed for. I have never could pinpoint Sapphire until recently. She is an Advisor Gem. Her powers are literally knowing what COULD be done and what are possible outcomes. It's a good thing in planning and calling shots. And mixing with Ruby's military drill, she could double for a leader since there isn't one. But she can't BE one. There is SO much more that makes a good Leader. That's where Steven steps in. What do you think? Is it logical?
