I like how they handled Ruby and Sapphire's marriage - Ruby is very obviously the masc of the relationship and Sapphire the femme. Different countries were replacing Ruby's pronouns from "she" to "he" to stop people from knowing it was a couple of lezzo rocks, so for the marriage they put Sapphire in the suit and Ruby in the dress; so either they're both chicks or the dude in the relationship wears dresses (they stopped people from being able to sensor them) it's pretty good.

I really appreciated the hospital episode of Steven Universe Future because they confirmed that throughout the whole series, Steven, a little kid, was legitimately getting messed up in the fights. He would regularly get broken bones and concussions, but he never really had to deal with it because his healing powers would immediately fix his injuries. I have to imagine that even if it would get fixed quickly, regularly experiencing pain like that while so young would still be traumatizing.

To clear up Patterz confusion, the vast majority of gems can shapeshift and none of them know how organic life is made so that's why Homeworld gems believed Steven when he said he was Rose Quartz. Also, about him rapidly dying of old age. He also shapeshifts subconsciously. He's literally only as old as he feels. This is also why he turned into a monster

When it comes down to the Rose is Pink Diamond reveal. Everyone saw it coming due to the small details that were placed early in the show's life. Such as Rose's powers and Pearl having a an outfit that has a pink diamond on it. Also, Fusion repersenting relationships doesn't mean it's only romantic relationships. As it's suppose to be all relationships repersented, healthy and toxic. But the fact that Ruby and Sapphire, both female, are a fusion caused many to make fusion be associated with romance. Edit: I should have expected the argument that's happening in the replies to this comment.....

everyone? so many people "debunked" the idea and talked about how believing it was gonna happen was dumb. there was at least a year or two where it was commonly accepted that pink diamond and rose were different people and the "rose is pink diamond" theory was treated as a joke or a meme.

So, the pink motif for Pearl didn't tell us anything for Rose Quartz = Pink Diamond. It told us that Pearl used to belong to Pink Diamond (which was true).

man this show meant so much to me. i got into the show right as season 1 ended and i was there until the finale of both the original run and su: future. it was the first time i saw lgbt characters who were actual characters instead of a punchline, it really meant a lot to me as someone who's lgbt and at the time was just figuring out i'm into women.

The gut punch that was seeing Lars DIE, drop DEAD on the floor and then come back to life was just out the window, Steven bringing him back just seemed random bc it was never mentioned Steven's tears could heal people. I love FootofaFerret don't get me wrong, but the recap isn't really a good summary of the story, and again, like 90% of important stuff is just out of it. Steven's ability to connect with other people on their sleep/subconscious isn't even mentioned until the Cluster for example, even though it is VERY IMPORTANT for the entire lore of the show. It makes it seem like the writers just decided he could do that bc they needed to wrap up the Cluster plotline. Another good example is White and all scenes building her up, foreshadowing and all that being just relegated to never being mentioned until the finale. White since the beginning was clearly more powerful than the other Diamonds, but the recap made it sound like she was equal to them. like yeah its a decent recap, it does the job pretty nicely, but half of the stuff is missing 💀

About Cartoon Network cancelling the show: Well it's slightly more complicated than that. Shows like Steven Universe get their funding from many different places. And when the crew of the show decided to make an episode focussed on a same sex wedding, they were told that if they decide to go through with it they would most likely lose money from some investors, harming the chances for the show to get picked up for more episodes. But the crew still took that risk because that kind of representation was too important for them. Honestly, even tho it harmed the show and we unfortunately got a rushed ending to the original show, I'm still glad we got that wedding episode because Steven Universe really was a pioneer in depicting queer characters and stories in children's media

I loved Steven Universe a while back, so allow me to elaborate more on the video and the series beneath the Read More: 1:13 I'm pretty sure Greg had his last name legally changed to Universe for his music career. It used to be DeMayo. He also becomes a multimillionaire after his former manager sold one of his songs for a commercial. 3:11 They fight the monsters, poof them, then encase them in a stasis bubble, keeping them under the temple with the hundreds if not thousands of other corrupted gems in hopes of being able to save them one day, as most of them were Crystal Gems during the rebellion. 5:21 "I'm gonna rap now" is an understatement. Stronger Than You has 14M views on KZbin, and has spawned numerous parodies, the most famous being the Sans Undertale parody, which has 79M views as of writing this. Also, this is at the end of season 1, which is 52 episodes long and makes up a third of the base show's runtime. 6:05 Look up "steven universe cat fingers" on KZbin. The first result should be by Steven Crewniverse titled "I'm a Monster" Watch it, and see how interested you are in that power afterwards. 8:36 Peridot's redemption is great. She insults Yellow Diamond directly to her face. Yellow Diamond's reaction got memed on a lot. 11:16 Amethyst and Jasper were both made on Earth during the war. Amethyst came from a Kindergarten (place where gem juice is injected and it sucks all the life energy from the surrounding area to give birth to gems, so in a way, your impregnating the Earth comment later isn't too far off) where other Amethyst soldiers were made, but she remained in the Earth too long, making her weaker than the other soldiers. ND Stevenson cited Steven Universe as proof that shows with queer characters have value and a right to exist while pitching the idea for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power to Netflix. Steven Universe crawled so all animated shows since then with queer characters can walk, and eventually, run. 22:18 Other Friends is also an excellent song. 24:35 The name of the fusion between Steven and Greg is Steg, which somehow makes it worse. 24:49 Drift Away is also an excellent song 25:21 A lot of people hate Pink Diamond at this point. 26:02 Spinel's only purpose was to play the games Pink Diamond wanted to play. If Pink Diamond wanted to play a game where she stood still for a very long time, Spinel would play it, placing absolute trust in Pink Diamond. She did have doubts about Pink's return, but held out for the 6,000 years only with pure faith she'd return. 30:15 Jasper, at this point, still hates Steven, but can't bring herself to kill him because he did save her from essentially being a zombie. She's still willing to fight him, though. 33:56 He also never quite fully healed physically. His regenerative powers means any injury he sustained would fix itself quickly, so every bone in his body has been broken and healed, but slightly off (you can still see cracks in his skull on the x-ray). 36:19 Steven tries visiting the Diamonds on Homeworld for therapy after accidentally killing Jasper. Yellow Diamond tries to mechanically fix the problem, but it doesn't work, so she sends him to Blue Diamond. She offers to get him high off her vaporized tears, but that doesn't work, so she sends him to White Diamond. White Diamond, who previously controlled others, is now letting herself be controlled so she can see things from the lesser folks' points of view. While controlling her, Steven tries forcibly smashing her head (where her gem is) into a pillar out of anger and vengeance for everything she put everyone through. 36:52 Yeah, pretty much. This is a kid's show, after all. Some other things that happen in the show and about the show: Lapis Lazuli steals the entire ocean We see a map of the world and Russia is destroyed Steven invites Pearl on a trip to Empire City (pretty much just New York City) despite her having been in love with Rose/Pink for thousands of years, and she finally stops resenting Greg for being the one Rose chose. Also she sings It's Over, Isn't It? which is also a great song Steven brings a pumpkin to life, and lives with Lapis and Peridot in the barn the drill for the Cluster was built in All the gems have their own weapons, and when the gems fuse, the weapons do too. Steven (Shield) + Amethyst (Whip) = Smoky Quartz (Yo-yo) Steven (Shield) + Pearl (Spear) = Rainbow Quartz (Umbrella) Steven (Shield) + Garnet (Gauntlets) = Sunstone (Suction Cup Gauntlets) Amethyst (Whip) + Pearl (Spear) = Opal (Bow) Amethyst (Whip) + Garnet (Gauntlets) = Sugilite (Flail) Pearl (Spear) + Garnet (Gauntlets) = Sardonyx (Warhammer) Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven can fuse into Obsidian, who creates the hilt of a greatsword (Gauntlets flattened for the Crossguard, Whip for the Binding, Spear for the length of the Hilt, Shield for the Pommel), dips it in lava, then pulls out a fire sword. Steven Universe is my favourite show of all time. It has everything. Sure some of the themes were toned down slightly (at first) because it was PG-13 or something but it taught me so many lessons growing up, along side Steven, while also having a crazy messed up universe and complex story/cast of characters. It resonates with me emotionally, not just despite me being an adult now, but even more so since I can relate more to the lessons now than I could back then.

For me during the Steve's birthday special string of episodes I was turning the same age just a few weeks later and mostly because of that I formed a connection with the show. I eventually learned that Steven's life and my life are scarely similar and watching thus show helped me come to terms with my own trauma. When the series finally aired I was going through a lot of problems and was highly depressed, the final episode gave me a moment of clarity that allowed me to look past my depression and see myself for who I really am and why my friends loved me.

Pink diamond felt having spinel around would prevent her from growing up so she left her in the garden. She had no reason to believe spinel would actually stay in the garden or that nobody would go to the garden and see her. And even after saving earth the space warps were broken so rose couldn't go find spinel even if she believed she wouldnt be killed on sight

One thing you'll notice in the show is when Steven confronts Pearl or whenevr Pearl is about to slip about Pink, she covers her mouth. This is because of when Rose told her to never reveal her secret. With that, Jasper's drive to keep fighting for Pink and Spinel, it reveals that Rose/Pink has some power of persuasion or mind control like Steven shows in Future

Things i want to clarify: It's lightly hinted that the US government isn't really aware of the Crystal Gems to a certain extent. Steven is off the grid, Pearl avoids the police because the gems aren't technically US citizens. The Town is aware of them and the gems appear in human history as having met some founding fathers but that's the extent known regarding the gems relationship with the US government. Stasis bubbles prevent gems from forming so there was no longer any danger after the Cluster was put in it, until it was intentionally popped.

I guess fusion is a mix of it's own person and knowing it's two people. Think of it like 2 people playing a game and controlling 1 character: if they are in sync, they can make the same conclusion on something or talk to one another to gather a common goal. So when Gems fuse, they kind of combine their consciousness into one being without losing themselves. And then you get the one sided gems, which is just toxic relationships where it's either both fighting for control or one submitting control over/losing themselves. And there yhere are multiple gems in one fusion that can work out but their mental and motor skills are slower due to a lot of people going off at once, though that's if there's more like 5 at once. A fusion of 3 or 4 working together can be very strong and fast.

Remember folks: If anyone says Lars is the worst when Ronaldo and Sadie exists, they're not to be trusted. Sadie literally kept the information that'd allow herself, Lars, and Steven to return home from an island secret in order to get in a relationship with Lars. Ronaldo makes an attempt to kill Lars in order to save himself and Sadie from a Gem infused house. Lars is just a regular idiot teen who tries to look cool to get in the popular kids club.

Well Steve's healing powers comes from Rose's/Pink Diamond's powers of healing since she was an all powerful Diamond, which her powers stem from helping over. Her healing came from tears (though debatable if both basic healing and revival came from tears alone is in the air) Steven's basic healing comes from his saliva and his revival powers come from his tears, which we didn't know till now since no one died. Fitting too that the worst character (even if there is a much more annoying character🍟) gets revived and becomes better from it.

Fusions have one consciousness per gem, so Opal would have one for pearl and one for amethyst, but if I am correct, in fusions there is also a consciousness that is sort of a mix of both

this is a good recap, and it covers the absolute necessary points to understand the story. but the best parts of this show is the music (it's incredible, the musical episode is my favorite) and the character development. the songs are usually important pieces of character development, actually.and both of those things help explain the parts of the story that this video doesn't. it helps some things make more sense, answers some of your questions. SU is also HEAVY on the queer representation, and i think that's another reason why so many people love it.

Yeah Ruby and Sapphire are two girl characters who love each other and then they got married and Cartoon Network TRIED to cancel it but Rebecca Sugar begged them to allow at least 6 more episodes to at least try to make a satisfying ending for the series and FYI even though gay marriage became legal in 2015 and that episode came out in 2019 still Cartoon Network tried to cancel it but still at least the company allowed six more episodes and a movie and an epilogue series so everything worked out in the end.
