Explanation: With The use of the rejuvenator, it restarted Steven’s gem to default, in other words returned the gem to their original form, once it fell out of Steven, Pink came because that was the gems original form. Not Rose nor Steven. She had her memory wiped that’s why she didn’t recognize Steven and called him Human. But she shouldn’t know what Steven is to be honest of her memories were wiped or Spinel for that matter. But in the case of the comic she knew what a human was and who Spinel was.

Actually Steven is the new default form. In Change Your Mind when White Diamond takes out Steven’s gem it goes through the stages. Pink Diamond, Rose Quartz, and now the new default, Steven. So that leads to Pink Steven fusing with Steven. Pink is no longer the default because if she was she would’ve reformed when Steven’s gem was removed. I was honestly hoping that Pink would come back in the movie, but that wouldn’t make sense because she, and Rose, are deceased.

Plus the only reason the Diamonds even redeemed themselves now is because they been through so much after the War, the fact that they lost pink and everything they had to endure is what finally pushed them to be better. Rose did cause a lot of problems but in the end she's the reason Steven is even alive, the reason homeworld is finally a place she can be proud of.

Rose was a different person, Pink became Rose and changed into an entirely new person who had never made mistakes and Pink was able to live her life as someone who she always wanted to be. But Pink ran away from her problems and became Rose. Rose is the forgiven version of Pink, who she could've became has she owned up to her own mistakes, but Pink instead ran away and decided to just ignore her previous issues and mistakes to become Pink, someone new. I hope that makes sense, because you're very correct in your statement, I just wasn't talking about Rose. When you're talking about Pink/Rose, you need to talk about them separately when analysing their characters, because despite being the same person, they're incredibly different and represent different things.

I think while she wasn't very responsible, she did try to do the right thing, and didn't go out of her way to hurt others. For all we know it could very well be true, that it was either leave Spinel there without telling the truth, or tell her the truth, and it would destroy her. Then again, maybe she would understand, and find a new friend. Far better than being left alone for so long. I think she should have told her to go meet with the other diamonds if she didn't come back after a certain amount of time, then she would have heard from the Diamonds that PD got shattered. Better to think her friend got shattered than to be abandoned.

Enix Plays Upon receiving her colony, Pink seemed to very quickly get bored of the duties she was very excited for. Though she wasn’t leading an invasion like Yellow was in flashbacks, she was sitting in a chair and overseeing, just like Yellow was doing and which had gotten her all excited. This is a sign she romanticized the work and wasn’t actually prepared for the work itself, but we can draw on more direct examples. Consider that when Pink realized that colonization required the destruction of the planet, she leaned into her persona of Rose Quartz, rather than using her role as supreme dictator of Earth to immediately stop further injection into the planet. She started a war against herself that lasted I think thousands of years, and then faked her own death because she couldn’t think of another way to fix the situation that she herself created. Let’s even look at how she treated Spinel, Who in my perception behaved a lot like a little sister to Pink, in that Spinel always was looking for Pink’s approval. Pink’s solution was the equivalent of telling that kid you don’t like to go hide and you’ll seek, and then you never try to find them. Pink has a clear history of avoiding her responsibilities in favor of whatever captures her attention. She’s childish, I’d argue even more childish than Spinel, who at least (tragically) does what she’s supposed to. Edit: Please note that one of the points I make is incorrect, as I’d forgotten a scene from the show. This is the claim that Pink doesn’t try to stop the injections as herself before she tries as Rose. I’ve left it in its original form so the dialogue is not confusing, but if you want details about this, please read below.

The Ultra Gaming Champ You’re absolutely right and thank you for pointing that detail out, as I’d forgotten. Pink did try to go through the proper channels and was shut down. I hope it doesn’t come across as me trying to spin, but I am going to point out another aspect of that scene in addition, as I still stand by what I feel about Pink. The Diamonds don’t seem to take Pink’s concerns serious because they think she’s having commitment problems. We know better since we have an outside perspective, but I don’t think this comes out of nowhere. I think in addition to being playful and goofy back on Homeworld, Pink was probably chronically lazy and evasive. Consider how when Steven first meets her, White thinks that Pink is playing a game and had to get something ‘out of her system’. This tells us Pink probably ran off on her own and demanded attention a lot, but that she was all bark and no bite. I’d expect that she doubled back on her commitments with the Diamonds a lot. Again, I apologize about my mistake above, but I hope the other points of my argument are clear enough that they don’t rely on that damaged part.

@@gume2255 The reason is rather clear. Throughout the retelling of Spinel's backstory with Pink Diamond, we see that Pink is growing tired of Spinel. If you pay attention to her facial expressions and reactions to Spinel you can tell this. Spinel's song reveals so much as well. She sings about how she thought they were having fun, but that's only what she thought while showing a scene of Pink Diamond looking annoyed by Spinel but still trying to spare her feelings. In the end, Pink Diamond simply did not want to take Spinel along to earth as it was her first colony and she wanted to appear mature and ready for this, something that should wouldn't if she were to have taken Spinel. On the other hand, not taking Spinel could have also been her way of getting rid of Spinel since she had grown tired of her. Spinel even says this in her song, talking about how how Pink Diamond only really ever wanted a colony. What a lot of people fail to remember is that the Pink Diamond that purposely abandoned Spinel is a completely different person. This was When Pink Diamond still had the mindset of a DIAMOND. It wasn't until she went to earth and met humans and found love that she matured and became the Pink Diamond we know as compassionate and caring. There's a whole song about how she didn't understand what Love was until she met Gregg/Humans/Crystal Gems (In the series, not the movie) So yes, Pink Diamond grew tired of Spinel and ditched her in the Garden to be free of her and to have her own Colony. She later became compassionate and caring enough to accept Spinel in, but unfortunately this is after everyone thinks Pink Diamond was shattered. It wouldn't be a perfect ending because it doesn't make sense. Change your Mind may have been full of rushed plot points and whatnot, but one thing it _did_ specify was that _Pink Diamond doesn't exist anymore._ As Pink Steven said, she's gone. She gave up her physical form to create Steven, so she's can't, won't, and isn't coming back no matter what. Also, that thing that Pink said about Spinel not growing up doesn't make sense either, as Spinel was only really created to be her toy/playmate. Pink, herself, didn't even really _start_ maturing until Greg have her a stern talking-to. Leaving Spinel in the garden, knowing full well that she wouldn't disobey her, was her biggest act of immaturity. Maybe she was getting tired of her, maybe she wanted to appear mature before her colony. Hell, it was probably both. But both are equally selfish, and Pink had no right to give Spinel a lecture about growing up because she didn't know what growing up was until _after_ she left her.

The point here is it gives Spinel more context, puts Pink in a less horrible light, and ultimately the gem does "un-reset" to become part of Steven again, showing that the change Pink went through to become and *want to become* part of Steven is the important part of the change the gem went through. I don't think most fans want her to come back permanently, just to have a moment where she is able to say, "my bad, didn't mean to be a monster then dump it all into my kid's lap."

Since I have seen a lot of people get incredibly confused over the idea in the video, here is my personal take on what's happening: This alternate idea plays with the idea of a gem truly getting "factory-wiped" by the rejuvenator. If, like all the others, Steven's gem were to truly be set back to stage one, then there would be no human DNA infused with it - there would be no Steven, just Pink Diamond who sees a human she has no connection to. I agree with you, though, that this idea may be beautiful but it kind of tosses some of the morals of Change Your Mind out the window. Still - the overall point is the same: Rose and Pink Diamond are gone now. The part Steven was missing was the transition of his gem from Pink Diamond to Rose to Steven. His human body knows this but his gem, the focus point of the reset had to "catch up" and undergo that part all over again. As the rejuvenator doesn't actually destroy the memories but more like seals them, yes, this wouldn't be possible canonically speaking but the story idea was still brilliant and beautifully executed😊

When the Crystal Gems reformed after being rejuvenated, they went to their initial form. The rejuvenator is a factory reset tool. So the reset process has two potential approaches and is comparable to how some devices do a factory reset and revert to the original operating system, and some instead revert to the factory version of the newest operating system that had been installed. For example, my laptop reverts to Windows 7 if I use the factory reset partition to repair the OS. But my phone will reset to the newest version of Android it had installed, albeit a "clean" copy. I fully expected Pink to pop out when the gem was rejuvenated.

@@qunrcm591 Who knows. There is a theory that gems are like computers in a way. Maybe PD uploaded her consciousness to the room before Steven was born since she knew Steven being born would completely erase/kill her mindset in the gem.
