HOME INVASION, OUT NOW! - smarturl.it/Ste...
Steven Wilson, described by The Telegraph as ‘the most successful British musician most people have never heard of’ embarked on his hugely ambitious sold-out To The Bone world tour in 2018. Founder and frontman of adored outsider rock band Porcupine Tree; one half of Blackfield; a Grammy nominated back catalogue remixer for acts like Roxy Music, King Crimson and Tears for Fears, as well as a solo artist hugely respected for a series of visionary LPs, from 2008’s Insurgentes, to his bestselling album To The Bone. Home Invasion celebrates the very best from across his career so far, presented as a cinematic multi-media show with glorious visualisations and outstanding musicianship. This stunning concert film was captured on the final night of his three night sold out residency at the Royal Albert Hall, London in March 2018, concerts which were hailed by media and fans alike as among the very best shows of the year.
Director - James Russell
Producer - Andy Derbyshire

This is outstanding, I think that Steven Wilson is easily at the level of David Gilmour, Frank Zappa, etc an absolute genius since his beginnings with No Man, the instrumentals with IEM, the magnificence of Porcupine Tree, his solo career, collaborations in tremendous albums like Damnation and Deliverance, Storm Corrosion by example his carrer impresses me.

One of the very few artists who I like even BETTER live. In a live setting, a lot of vocalists either improv their vocal melodies too much, lack power, run out of breath, or get way too pitchy. SW suffers from none of these issues and he stays very close to the original, while adding that bit of edge you mention

Good God! Perfection. All drummers should take note. An incredible display of organic musicality and calm. He forced nothing, yet explosive drive. Bravo Zulu to that man. And Alex's solo? Sweet. I can listen to this drumming for weeks, it's absolutely mind-blowing. I'm permanently in love with Marco's style, and of course no one is a SW fan without being also a Gavin Harrison fan, but Blundell does something really unique with his live performance of this song. I don't think there's a better way to honor such an amazing and complex song like this than performing it in a very unique and brilliant fashion. There's not a single fill that's repeated or bland, there's no missed opportunity to work on the hats, I mean... Simply untouchable performance by a truly great drummer.

For me this is the most brilliant song of Steven Wilson’s solo work and Craig Blundell is absolutely phenomenal at the drums!! Goosebump-moment around minute 9, wish I could see this live again xxx

I'll be number one million in line of many to admit the incredible talents of Steven Wilson. He is honestly very talented, and a great songwriter, HE will continue to expand on his career I have no doubt... Congratulations to him, a talented artist going out on his own and getting rewarded, I have no problem with that. But what truly breaks my heart is that he (from what I read, he's no longer interested in pursuing PT further) broke up one of the most talented prog rock bands ever to assemble (Porcupine Tree). I've been a life long fan of Rush (since 1978), and thought their specific "art" would be lost when they disbanded... I got hopeful with bands like Dream Theater (and others), but realized they didn't have enough "songwriting" talent to match their musicianship and take on the that huge responsibility moving forward. I discovered PT mid 2005, they were my hope for the future of prog rock (I knew Rush wouldn't last forever and it was confirmed in 2015). Listened to Deadwing, In Absentia, and even earlier works. I felt they were prog rocks hope for the future, not only did they have the musicianship, they had "monster" musicians at every position and a brilliant writer in SW. In 2006, they put out "Fear of a blank planet", WOW! Incredible cd/album, best work yet.. Again, this confirmed that they are going to be huge in the prog rock genre moving forward. Well, not so much... Yes, bands do break up, but not legendary bands... Imagine if Rush would have broken up after COS (3rd album- pretty much disgraced by the media)? There would have never been 2112, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and more importantly Moving pictures... Imagine if any of those three members of Rush said after the 3rd album I'm going solo, well music would have had a great loss. I guess Steven WIlson put it best when he wrote the lyrics of Porcupine Tree's song "The sound of Muzak"... "One of the wonders of the world is going down"... My interpretation from those lyrics is that is prog rock is going down, you be the judge... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqGTgIt_eNqNm80 Please pay attention to the lyrics, after all he had the worlds best musicians behind him, why would he leave that? Maybe it was a bad working relationship, I don't know, it's just so sad for a band that had so much promise to end so suddenly...
