My son introduced me Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree about four years ago when he was 16. I didn’t pay much attention at the time. A year later, Steven toured and played at a small, but well-known club in our city. My son was 17 and needed an 18+ to get him into the club and asked me to take him. Steven performed this song maybe second or third and I was floored. I suffer crippling depression at times and the lyrics, the ache, just resonated. I’m now a lifetime fan, of course. My son is 20 now, in college, and my husband and I live in a different country so I don’t get to see him much. But when I’m missing him really bad and feeling down, I play this and remember the night, not that I first heard this song, but that I spent with my son, listening to his favorite band together. One of the best nights of my life. I’m crying now writing this, with Pariah on in the background.

I think he is not well known in the mainstream music, but in prog scene he is pretty overrated. I enjoyed more the first albums of porcupine tree where he was truly experimental and progressive, before he sold out to metal, and later to pop

This will truly be a document for ages to come about one of the more important characters of today's musical scene.

This is probably my most favorite track from the album and this performance is absolutely brilliant. I love SW. But I have to especially mention Ninet here. She is so exceptionally brilliant! Amazing voice, amazing singing skills and she’s a beautiful woman as well. I am supposed to see SW live soon. I wish Ninet could be there too.

A few weeks ago I found out that I have autism and I'm almost 51 years old. I have always been a pariah, or at least I feel like I have. I bought Too The Bone when the day it came out, and this became my new favorite song before it was halfway over on the first listen. As far back as I can remember I've know I wasn't like the other children. I struggled to make friends because I really didn't understand the point. I hated school and cried most every day until about the 4th grade. For that reason alone I was a target for bullies. I was the wimpy kid that didn't like people. I really did, I just don't understand but a few. I spent my whole working cateer working my way to the top at the pinnacle I never lasted long because I knew I didn’t derve to be where I was and I was terrified that the people I worked for would find out and send me packing. I was convinced that they could see through my charade from the beging and some how dropped me through the cracks. I have two kids that I wanted to be closer to than I was, but I had no idea what do to make that happen. I have a grandson now and I can feel my self pulling away from him. I want to die every time I think about it. I'm the only papa he will ever have, because I have no idea how to stop it. My wife is all that I have to take comfort in. I haven't spoken to my father in four years. I see my mother on holidays, so thats not much better. I'm writing this as a public message, but have your children tested early. There are things that can help them to have a better life. You don’t want them to lose the race before it has even begun. There is really not a lot that can be done if they are diagnosed at my age. Otherwise they may grow up hating themselves because they can't be like other people. This song is a comfort To me to. If nothing else it seems like someone else has felt the way I do.

I'm kind of crying right now at how beautiful this is. I'm rediscovering SW again after drifting as a fan in recent years. "The Raven..." is the last album I bought and really loved it, just was listening to other stuff. Recent life events have led me back to old Porcupine albums that spoke to me deeply, and now to his solo works. And Ninet, my goodness, what an angel. Her voice reminds me of Anneke van Giersbergen in the context that it sounds like no one else, to me.

I've been struggling with severe anxiety and depression for many years and my god, am i tired of humanity and of myself, so this song hits home. Both voices are amazing and the lyrics really do me in every time i hear this. Beautiful. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

The world should know more types of artists and singers. Ninet has an amazing voice and she sings so vocal and emotional right. This song and this performance proves how beautiful it is. You do not need effects and tricks and plays and dancers and a performance usually in pop music that has to give some crazy show. Here is pure emotion and that's it. Ninet is not only a singer who is also a musician herself. Although less familiar that way because her style is different from Steven Wilson and that's what's beautiful. On the one hand she sang songs of this kind and on the other hand did not give up her art. She has gone through a lot in her career but the best is that she is also an amazing person who is kind, humble, and completely brave. Certainly a kind of national soul as it sounded in her voice. You have to meet her face to face to understand that. I was lucky to meet her. She deserves this love more than many others.
