Well Steven you make it look pretty easy. Excellent explanation. Can't wait to commit to the tack. Biggest thing I got from the vid is that moment when the feet switch occurs your board is level. I think I'm rushing the turn and killing my speed. Tks DB

Thanks DB 🤙 Getting the board level really is key to the tack. Best of luck ans have fun out there!

Great job on the video! Thought at the start of your video and at the end you are rotating in the opposite direction: and that is first you are rotating (and switching feet as a result) in the opposite direction to your turn. At the end of the video you are rotating in the same direction that you are turning!

Glad you liked the video! There are different turns in this video, sometimes it's hard to do them all in the same direction 😅

Steven! Loved the video, but had a question. What’s the biggest difference between the tack and the roll tack?
@stevenakkersdijk2 жыл бұрын
After the roll tack you have a twist in your lines because you did a rotation. On the tack you don't do that rotation. The roll tack can sometimes be easier as the movement is more natural. But it's a bit scary to try out in the beginning.

Hi Steven! Thank you for the tips, I'm getting there😉 Last couple of days were first decent sessions and I notice that on 360 it's really hard for me to carve past wind direction, only once or twice I could cross the wind Any tips of what I should pay attention to?
@stevenakkersdijk2 жыл бұрын
Awesome that you're trying. I would recommend to come in with a bit more speed. Than you can lean in to the turn and that combined with head movement (look where you want to go) should get you around nicely. Have fun trying!
@fifty-sqrd2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenakkersdijk Ok, more speed, lean into the turn, look around the shoulder. Will try, hopefully today, maybe next windy day.

@@stevenakkersdijk thanks! I almost did it today, also I think finding proper grip on the bar with the back hand is important - too close to the center and there's too much pull from the kite, too wide and the kite will go for the loop early. That'd be awesome if you made a video someday on foil waveriding. I really enjoy local waves, hydrofoil allows riding here where nothing else can. However my small wing is super fast and I get "oh shi so scary" sometimes and sending the kite to lead into cutback or bottom turn is super hard - the time window is huge and the wave isn't the most stable - sometimes going for the turn end up with nothing, and often I overtake the kite cos I should have sent it there like a second or two earlier but I didn't see the wave coming cos it's so small😳🤣 I'd get more to the shallows where the wave is more stable, but there the current is strong and I'm bit worried cos life guards are not there - forbidden due to the UA thing going nearby

Oh, man! Thank you for the video! I'm struggling with no-switch tack, will do your exercise next time on the water. I have shared the video on our local telegram group for my friends to discuss! What do you think about riding small size wing (I have ~600 cm) and trying strapless aerials? I have landed my first in August, now I want more power and hangtime, I hope my new Section 7m will help me out!
@stevenakkersdijk2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for sharing the video on you local telegram! Thats much appreciated. Not sure what your weight is, I always ride a 1000cm wing for strapless. With the newer shapes I would probably go down to 800cm. The section is a nice kite for foiling, very fast and drifts well. It might not give the most hangtime and lift though. Personally I always ride the Nexus as it has more lift and is also suited for twintip riding

Hey Steven. Love the videos! BTW what are your preferred line lengths for foiling?
@stevenakkersdijk3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I prefer riding on 16m lines as it makes the kite and my tacks very quick and responsive. I find that the 20 or 22m lines become a bit slow on the foil, but if the winds are really low I sometimes use it.
