Agreed. I just learnt something new and now understand that while I have been doing these 'Sent Jumps' @gethigheithmike that why landing left foot forward and helilooping to the right feels so much more comfortable than when looping left and left foot forward. Thanks Steven, great tips.

Can you explain why my Body would be more stable if i downloop right with left foot forward? I allways do left left 😅
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
@@gansmaier3994 if you land left foot forward your body will be facing the right side of the wind window. So when you downloop to the right you'll face the kite and lean back against the pull. If you would loop your kite to the left it will pull behind you. Its similar to landing toeside vs heelside after a little pop.

All my life , everybody tells me to move the kite to 12 FASTER, now you are the first person to say slowly
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
The faster you steer the kite, the more power it delivers and the higher you could go. But this only works if you steer it in the correct way and make sure that the power pulls you up and not forward. So there is a very fine balance between speed and control. But I would say the control is the most important of the two.

Well, to give you some info on the progress. I had around 50 faceplants on my Nexus 11m. After I took my XR6 8m (because i wanted to take some risks) and had already problems to get my downloops done. It was only my second flight on the XR6. And it seems it turns a lot slower than my Nexus. Maybe I shouldnt have made my sensor bar more narrow, and keep it on the widest stand? Or its just the different kite? I felt like such a rookie on the XR 🙃

The XR is slower and most likely you'll have to get used to the timing. I ride it on the wakestyle bar and this is completely fine, so bar width shouldn't make a difference

Great Video as usual! I have learned so much from your SA tutorials in the past year! A question on kite configuration for pulling the first kite loops. It's a no-brainer to use a smaller kite for learning loops but I wish to know what the best depower setting should be. I assume having the kite fully powered so the steering lines have a more direct feel would be the best? Or? Also, all the tutorials say 20+ knots but at my weight, 50-55kg, I am already on a 7 at 15kts. Does this influence the quality of the kiteloop?
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk Жыл бұрын
Hey Aya, that's an excellent question. I would recommend to ride your kite fully powered as you want the direct steering for a smaller loop. (just make sure the kite doesn't backstall after the loop) As you are so light I would recommend to try it around 15-18 knots, any lighter than that and it will be hard for that 7m to catch you after the loop.
@BerlinMauer
@BerlinMauer Жыл бұрын
@@stevenakkersdijk thanks for your reply. 🙏🏻 Yesterday, I had exactly 15-18 knots riding my 7m. I did manage some powered kiteloops but they are still quite small. Maybe only 2-3m max. I know it should be safer to jump higher but I am still chicken to pull the loop on higher jumps. Any advice?

Hi Steven, awesome video! wish I had seen this when I was learning to kiteloop. If I said to you I wanted to kiteloop in the lowest wind possible (70kg rider) and still be caught, what size kite would you recommend? A 11 or 12 is going to go higher but recover slower then say a 10, so just trying to figure out the sweet spot for when the wind is a little too soft for my 9m.
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk Жыл бұрын
Hey Luke, great to hear that you enjoy the video! Friend of mine managed to loop the 11m with your weight, but it was always a bit of a question if it would catch him. Personally I really enjoy the 10m kites for light wind looping. (I actually learned the kiteloop board off with a 10m as it puts you down softer) I can only speak for the 10m CORE Nexus and GTS as I haven’t looped any other kite brands in that size, but I’m certain most will be fine.

Great videos!! just Learning to loop now so will be a great help. One question which is a bit off topic (big air) You say about edging for longer and not stirring the kite too fast to get it above you, is this the same technique that you suggest for big air jumps?
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
Awesome man, i hope this video will help out for that. It also counts for big air, but only up to a certain extend. The faster you steer your kite, the more power it will generate, but it can also pull you too much forward. So you need to find the sweet spot. Edging is super important for high jumps. But the faster youre riding the shorter and more explosive your edging technique should become.

A bit confused...At 2.37 timeframe starts the exersise and is the one of the previous 1st video pulling the bar at the apex landing and driving to opposite direction. Then re-explaining the exercise over the next frames at 3.09 you are using another loop more powerful pulling earlier the bar and heading to the same direction. Is there an inconsistency?? those two loops are very different, Thanx a lot

Hey Stelios, I'm happy you're finding the videos helpfull. Both of the loops in this video are different from the loop in the first video. The height of the loop @2.37 isn't really great, but you can see that I initiate the loop before the apex. In the previous episode (part 1) i showed a loop where you initiate the loop at the apex or before. But you're right, there is a big height difference in both which can be a little bit confusing.

So what is the difference between this kite loop and jump transition with the loop out from the previous video?
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
In this kiteloop you start pulling the loop just before you hit the apex of your jump. In the previous episode I taught how to loop the kite after the apex of the jump. The later you loop, the less pull the kite will generate.

How high of a jump should you be doing for this? What height range do you consider the “death zone” for kite looping?
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
Your first loop only need to be something like 2-4 meter high. After that it really depends on the kite size and kite type how high you need to jump in order for the kite to catch you again. These are just estimtates on how high you need to go in order to perform a downloop: 10m Kite: 6m high 9m kite: 5m high 8m kite 4m high Does that answer your question or did you mean something else with "death zone"

@@stevenakkersdijk Possibly. What I am referring to is the powered back handed kite loop while rising after a jump. When I hear dowloop, I think of a landing loop or heli loop. I have seen videos (and experienced) a death zone where, if you pull the loop between 3-7 meters, you are going high enough to hurt yourself on landing but not high enough for the kite to catch you. Many people suggest pulling a powered kite loop below 3M and then skipping to pulling a loop at 7+M. So to summarize, what I am asking is: how high of jumps should we be pulling our aerial powered loops at when learning them and is there a jump height that we should avoid doing them at? Or do you suggest we keep trying to go higher and higher, one meter at a time until you get to 10m loops. Thanks for the response!

@@timothygroten4193 When Steven gave you an estimate of the minimum height to safely perform a downloop depending on on the kite size, of course he meant after a powered kiteloop: so that answers your question! No need to go over 7m to send those powered loops and recover safely; I have also heard that piece of advice but I think it's kind of rubbish, partially because everyone (including me) thinks they are pulling 10m kiteloops when in fact they are barely over the 5-meter mark... The yank from the loops makes them impressive but then one sees themselves on video and gets pulled back to reality hah :) With a 7m² or 8m² kite and good sheeting-out after the loop you're good to send kiteloops starting from as low as 3-4m and have your kite catch you for a nice downloop. I sent my first kiteloops late backroll from that height approximately with a 7m² kite and landed them without bending the knees. Hope this helps!

Really enjoying your tutorials! Have heard that we should not try kite loops when jumping between 1.5 and 7 meters high. Can u comment on thus please. Jo

I'm Glad you're enjoying them. I just wrote this comment for someone else as you wrote this. So I've just copy pasted. Let me know if this answers your questions. With older kites (C-kites) there used to be a zone where the kite will for sure not catch you after a kiteloop. So you would be better off going above a certain height or sticking lower to the water to save your knees. Kites have come a long way from back then though. So when you're riding a 8m or smaller you can have soft landings on pretty much all heights after a kiteloop. With a 9m or bigger there will be a certain height (estimates are in my first reply) you want to jump above, otherwise the kite won't really catch you. This height is influenced a lot by your vertical (good) or horizontal (bad) take off. If you want to learn kiteloops where the kite catches you on the downloop your best option is going on an 8m kite and try to jump 1m higher every single jump.

But I really appreciate what u mean with a good and a bad jump....great point. A future video might discuss how to best achieve the balance of control and speed that u mention to achieve an optimal jump.... from height and best prerequisite kite position to throw a negaloop .....or is this too complicated on a video?? @stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
@@prcs523 For me a kiteloop is a loop that you pull on the way up. A kiteloop is pulled by pulling on your back hand. When you pull a loop on the way up, but you pull the loop with your front hand, it's a contraloop. Pulling a loop on the way down to either side is what I call a downloop. (some also call it heliloop) Does that explanation help?

what the (*&# does it mean to sheet the bar out "for a third"???
@stevenakkersdijk

Sheet out is to push the bar out or forward. So "sheet the bar out for a third" means to push the bar up for 1/3 of the total range.
