People overlook what a great coach Nash is because his team is so stacked

This for me was the best basketball shooting video by far I have ever watched, and I have watched hundreds. In particular, the idea of keeping my chest up at all times, even after I make a move is extremely valuable information. I have always had a problem being aggressive and wanting to get from point A to point B in a hurry. I get there quicker if I am leaning forward with my chest down as I move. The problem is that I frequently get caught in that position when I am open to shoot. Raising up out of that position to shoot a jump shot is a big problem for me. I could do it better when I was younger but I cannot get away with it anymore. The trick is don't get caught in this position, like Nash says. Stay low with knees bent but don't lean forward and drop your chest down. I played ball yesterday and focused on doing this and it was the best game I have played in years. I was on fire! I think I shot over 90% and actually dominated the game, which is something since I was playing against guys 20 and 30 years younger than me who are good players. It's amazing that it seems that the most important part of shooting has nothing to do with shooting. For me it's all about how I move on the floor. On balance at ALL times.

This resonated with me. I am trying to focus less on working on my game, and more on my general focus, fitness and control/balance. Keep it going man!

The touching the ball on the ground drill is something I am going to start working on regularly. Getting low and keeping my weight back is a problem for me. It never seemed to be a problem for Steve Nash. I don't think he ever took an off balance jump shot once in his career. Uncanny. I can do it great when just form shooting with no hoop in front of me but as soon as I have a hoop to put the ball in, my form goes to crap and I start swinging the ball out in front of me, dropping my chest, and jumping forward. Not only does it throw my shot off and inhibit my stroke but I bring the ball right to the defender so he can contest it.

Steve, I really need help with my shot. I watched the video and it helped a little but my shot is a little quirky. I agree we must stay low on some movements (cutting, defense) but stay that low for jumpshot Will get you in trouble because the lower you are, the slower Will get high to jumpshot and defense Will Have enough time to block your shot. I tried both too Low or regular stance and last one is faster and secure to avoid blocks.
@pakman00496 жыл бұрын
VTJ VTJ it's not a technique he wants her to incorporate into her game. It's more of an exercise to get her shot more stable. Building strength in her legs and keeping her chest out. Keeping distance between her feet so she can still be stable wether she's going left or right.
