Johnny and Dick Cavett were Lucy's favorite interviewers. You could tell how fond shows of both of them when she did their shows

People say she's drunk or grumpy. By 1975 Lucy was a hard-boiled successful businesswoman that didn't take BS from anyone. She was unfiltered and unfettered in her interviews. Lucy was still uber focused on pleasing her mother Dede who passed away July 20, 1977. This video is from 1975 and mentioned her mother.

I have seen her on several Johnny Carson shows - never seemed drunk or grumpy. Lucy and Johnny were good friends and it showed when she appeared on his show. Seemed she enjoyed being there -b/t/w Johnny Carson would not have been ok with anyone who came drunk to his show.

Whenever I watch her shows, it always impresses me to see how AMAZING of an actual ACTOR she was. Her comedic talent is so amazing its a given, top of the top.... But she was such a talented actress, and it seems like it comes naturally to her.... I heard she trained at one point at a school with Bette Davis.... but that kinda conflicts with what she said here, so I wonder whats true

She was training in a dramatic school in NYC at age 16 or so. However, the school said she should leave - no talent. Lucy said she was so shy and Bette Davis was their star pupil. Too funny.

Carson is jumpy & hyper in this one. I think he's intimidated by her. But she's not getting any of his straight lines, he's not used to that. Every time he goes for the joke, she reads him seriously, and every time he was serious, she assumed he was making a joke.

Lucy didn't appear to be a happy, person despite all of her talent and success. It's sad to hear she didn't want to live a long life. Maybe her physical limitations from the ski accident was one of the reasons why. That, and Desi.

72 is not considered young regardless of the era or time period. Not everyone is fortunate to live past 80/early 80s let alone 90 to 100

@@arlenecerf8833 i dont agree 72 is not old with looking after self you have a great 15 or so years!!! ....god willing...when i was 25 72 was old but now that im 50 72 is nothing
@arlenecerf88332 жыл бұрын
@@hhhh-xb9py well I understand where you’re coming from. I’m 63 - 13 years older than you. However , my opinion has always been that past 64/65 you are considered a senior citizen I.e. an elderly. Heck at 72 you are old enough to become a great grandparent. I became a grandma at 48 and my grandbaby is now 14. I get what you’re saying about living beyond your eighties (God willing) however , the reality is even if you go through all precautions of living a clean life - it is not guaranteed that one will live to late eighties to 100. A minority of the population will live to that ancient age but not the majority due to different circumstances. But I respect your opinion and hope you have a good day Xx

@@faithe54 I agree, it's sad to hear her talk like that. After seeing many interviews and watching the Lucy & Desi movie that was just released it seems like she was happiest when she was working/performing. The movie has a clip of Desi talking about how he wanted to quit and she wanted to continue working. He referenced Bob Hope in speaking about retirement who said fishing is boring because the fish don't laugh at a joke. I believe she was one of those comedic talents who just loved performing for an audience.

"You don't do television very often" Lucy "Turn on you water 🚰💧faucet" 😂🤣She is an institution!!! Comedy should start and end with Lucille Ball (1911-1989), just like late night television 📺starts & ends with Johnny Carson (1925-2005).
