I just installed my own 90% goodman furnace. Took my time feel like I did a good job on everything. Ran great first day second day flame wasn't consistent and gas valve was clicking. Took me 3 days to figure it out after checking everything my vent was not pitched enough and condensation was building up and pressure switch wasn't closing. I probably saved 3k installing it myself. Furnace works great now and happy I did it myself. I'm not saying all furnace repair / installers are bad but most of them charge too much damn money. I learned how the furnace operates and learned how to install them. If you're handy at all its not very hard to do and I recommend it. Just make sure all your gas fittings are sealed ,tight and leak tested. Check gas pressures on your inlet and outlet. These new furnaces are pretty safe and have fail safes for the gas valve. Don't get ripped off do it yourself.

Nice diagnosis though. But yeah id be at that secondary pswitch checkin volts before i went to a roll out. You would never even get to an inducer starting or even ignitor glowing if rollout is tripped.

The coil is bad on the gas valve. The best way it was described to me when I was going through tech school was that, "If it's receiving its inputs (voltage & gas) and it isn't doing its job, the component is bad.". Any call I go on where I have to condemn a part, I never try to say "I don't know.". The customer deserves a better reasoning than "I don't know.", lol. Good job on the repair.

Honeywell VR8345M is a good universal valve that includes an LP kit in case you need it. They’re a little pricey but a good true universal fit to save the running around. This is the second time I’ve noticed in a month you’ve needed to run after an LP kit. Good diagnosis though!

@@realSamAndrew no it won’t. Smart valve must be replaced with a smart valve. However, if your furnace is using a smart valve that has failed, you’d be smart to replace the whole furnace. No pun intended lol.

I have a question 🤔 I'm having the same problem with a Goodman furnace fan blower does not turn on but inducer motor ramps up and down until unit locks out because of no flame has been established and there is no flame at all gas valve is on should I put a manometer to read pressures and adjust before I condem a gas valve????

Will a dirty flame sensor stop it from firing up all together??? I thought the flame sensor would need the ignitor to glow first and prove, then open the gas valve and light the burners and at that point the flame sensor would fail causing it to short cycle?

Good job checking pressure . Did it call for 9-11” wc.on the furnace plate? Nat gas is 95% reliable but from my experience propane is only about 80-85% reliable. I have propane now and it froze up 3 times in 3 years. I put a tee and various fittings with a Shutoff in the incoming gas line so now I can check inlet pressure easily. My valve doesnt have a pressure tap.

Hey Steven, nice to see these helpful videos. I have a gas furnace and it's giving me a weird problem. When I turn the heat on to high, it doesn't fire up then shuts off. But when I turn it on manually with a BBQ lighter. It stays on its cycle only on max high Wich is 30°C. If I turn it down, then the whole furnace shuts off to safe mode. Do you know what could be the problem?

I'll admit, however, that I don't keep shooting questions at them as they do their work, like this guy did, very annoying.
