2 different houses I've lived in, I've gotten rid of the oil heating system in favor of natural gas. Had the Carlin EZ conv burner installed on a young, working Weil Mclain oil boiler (instead of replacing the oil tank which was on it's way out), and then replaced a working Williamson low-boy oil furnace with a new gas one, also because I would've had to replace the oil tank if I stuck with oil. Both times I had to have gas brought into the house, what a painful process it was both times waiting for the service line to be installed by the gas co. If natural gas isn't available or the gas co wants crazy $ to extend the gas line to you, then not much that can be done, but man does it bother me when people are too lazy or uneducated to have natural gas brought into their house and eventually make the switch over. At the point now where I'm not even sure if I would buy another house with oil heat, if there wasn't a simple / economical path to replace it with something solid in the near future. God forbid if that oil tank gives out, congratulations, you now own a hazmat site. 6 figure cleanup bill. Thankfully not super common, but it does happen usually a few times per year (And those are just the instances that people actually report / make it to the news). It can be such a large expense it puts people into bankruptcy / lose all their equity in their home, scary stuff. And they do NOT make the oil tanks like they used to, by all accounts. You see the new ones with the less thick metal start leaking all the time at a very young age. I'm sure there will be oil fanboys & salesmen out there that disagree, but here's to hoping that more and more homes continue to get converted to different systems

Gas is NOT available in many areas.

@@paulroggemann1017 I get that, and hence why I said "if natural gas isn't available then not much that can be done" . There's still other options like propane & heat pumps although I agree generally there's less incentive to make the switch to those for varying reasons, but then again that also depends on what rates are for each fuel in your area. I was just talking about for my situation, both those houses that I had to have gas brought into, the gas main had been in the street in front of my house and the neighboring properties had had gas service for like 20+ years. Just plain laziness and stupidity on the part of the previous owners. It gets me worked up thinking about how some people just want to always take the path of least resistance and are unaware of all these pro's and con's, but anyways I digress

Those who are so worried about a little oil being spilled, why don't you go to vehicle dealerships and see how much is spilled there? How about heavy truck service companies? This is the first time I have seen an oil fired furnace. Might be easier if you just say what size the fitting is rather than showing the wrench. You do a great job for your clients.

I Googled it and they say, biodiesel turns onto a gel in cold weather. That's the problem, that you're having.

Great videos! Very knowledgeable. Been watching for a long time. Keep them coming. I was curious need a professional opinion. Can you use gas station diesel in a boiler?

yes its just more refined . no red die in it ..same #2 fuel
@thecableguy1128
@thecableguy1128 Жыл бұрын
I believe the red diesel is off road diesel and some gas stations have it at the pumps. I know my friends and neighbors use it for their boats. It’s not road taxed. So they add the red die to catch anyone who uses it on the roads. I have seen state troopers use a clear tube or hose to get a sample from some trucks.
